  • I miss my 2001 740 - 2005 BMW 7-Series

I miss the gear shift. I miss the easy controls. I miss the aggressive style. The 745iL is engineered well, handles great and is comfortable. Unfortunately I dont feel connnected. The trunk looks like Im transporting a coffin. Im a computer guy and the iDrive especially the NAV is annoying. The phone hears me...sometimes. The say it a software problem. Unfortunately its hard to reboot on the freeway at 65. Unless things change, this is my last one. PS I love renting a car when I bring it in for service. At 80K I probably dont deserve one !

I’ve owned 9 BMWs. We presently own 3 (2004 325xi, 2003 X5 4.4, and a 2003 745Li). I really agonized about giving up my last 740iL so I didn’t get one of those awful first year 745s. Well, after 2 years and 17,000 miles in the 745Li, I have to say it is the absolute best car I have ever driven but the absolute worst pile of electronic crap I’ve ever had to deal with. I’m an engineer so I understand iDrive but this 745 has become a one-user car because iDrive is unnecessarily complicated and no one else in the family will drive it. Reliability has been perfect but this new style reminds me of driving a well engineered brick, not an art form like previous cars.

  • Great exterior looks but bad interior - 2005 BMW 7-Series

They destroyed the interior and I regret my wife ever got this car. She doesnt drive it much but I do 80% of the time. I told her I have never seen a car take which was so great from an interior point of view before in the 2002 and under 7 series that felt you were in a cockpit of an airplane and totally destroy it. We plan on selling it this summer and going over to the S500 mercedes. Real sad because we a have had BMWs for 15 years.

The 760Li is a fabulous performance luxury sedan in every way. The power, handling and comfort exceeds any vehicle have ever driven. I have driven many. The fuel efficiency is extraordinary on the highway and poor in the city. The only problem that I have had in approximately 1 year of driving are some quirky electronics issues. The dealer did a good job of taking care of these issues with a minimum of inconvenience. I highly recommend this V12 for someone looking for something above and beyond.

  • Whats not to like? - 2005 BMW 7-Series

My 2nd Beemer. 1st was the M Roadster. The 745i is so much more comfortable and almost as much fun to drive. Most features well thought out but some defy logic. (What were the designers thinking when they put the door lock/unlock switch in the middle of the dash?) I-Drive learning curve is steep but a wonderful concept. The steering wheel controls and mode button are all I need to shuttle between Satelite, AM and 7 CDs without taking my eyes off the road. I just wish they would improve the navigation menus and display CD track titles. The Sat radio implementation is fantastic! I usually leave this set to display artist and track title. Hands free phone is nice too.

  • GREAT CAR - 2005 BMW 7-Series

A real show stopper and fun to drive, handles like a sports car and rides like a G4

  • Better than advertised - 2005 BMW 7-Series
    By -

Maybe the I-drive is a bit much, but this car corners like nothing youll ever drive. It has snap, it has power, itll give you whatever you need and it holds the road like nobodys business. GREAT to drive. An experience you must try.

  • hate the inside - 2005 BMW 7-Series

nice looking, wonderful to drive, comfortable, the the interior design and controls are from bad to awful. the dashborad displays are too small for me to see with out my glasses but i do not need glasses for driving so it is a problem. the i control for sound system and heating is too complicated to remember and use while driving. the electonic park neutral drive reverse is downright dangerous as you can open the door and get out without realizing it is not in park

  • Best BMW yet - 2005 BMW 7-Series

This is my 4th BMW. It is not perfect, but as close to perfect yet. Drives and handles like a dream, I drive is complicated at first but once you are used to it, it is intuitive.
