Overview & Reviews
The big news for 2003 is the late-fall arrival of the 760Li, which combines all the greatness of the 745 while adding a 6.0-liter V12. BMW has not released U.S. output ratings, but European specs have it at 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. The more interesting aspect of the 760Li is that it's the first BMW with direct gasoline injection, which, in combination with the Valvetronic technology already used in the 745 models, allows for stellar performance, and according to BMW, "outstanding fuel economy." We'll wait and see on that one. In other news, all models get rear head-protection airbags, and Active Cruise Control finally makes it to the options list, along with run-flat tires. The Rear Comfort Seat package for the 745Li now includes rear-seat ventilation.
- Superb driving dynamics, highly advanced technology, dizzying array of features, sumptuous furnishings.
- Toys can be distracting from the task at hand, confusing secondary controls, odd styling details.

Problems, less than 30 days into car - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By mochamix - July 29 - 2:00 amThe "rankings" they ask for do not allow for functional problems to be addressed. I have had this car for less than 30 days and I already have a message telling me that the restraint system (of all things, safety) isnt working! Air bags and seat belts... While it is a pleasure to drive this car in general and all "expected", it is only the ultimate HANDLING vehicle, not the ultimate DRIVING vehicle as it has nothing on driving a cadillac down the coast as far as comfort goes...BMW should take note of how cadillac masters luxury DRIVING especially at the price they are asking for the 745s.

The iDrive sucks, BMW, Never again. - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By S.H. - July 13 - 2:00 amThe designers for the iDrive and the ofiicials at the BMW design center must be on drugs to think that iDrive is a good idea for the ultimate driving machine. It is a nonfunctional electronic trouble making disaster.

Ultimate Paradox - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By Steveh - June 22 - 2:00 amThe car is a dream to drive . The workmanship on the car is definitely substandard and the electronics are woeful. Every repair has either been completely ineffective in remedying my problem or has created some new problem the dealer cant figure out. Strongly recommend anyone thinking about purchasing this car get detailed information about the dealership(s) srevice department, since youll be spending quite a bit of time there. I live in an area with only one BMW dealer in a 100 mild radius and the service department has been incompetent and as user unfriendly as the car.

By Capcityman - May 1 - 2:00 amThe software revisions and minor glitches (like a KM spedo) were annoying but after those early problems, the car has been carefree/

They almost made it - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By bto - March 5 - 2:00 amWith out a doubt BMW took a chance and put all the technology available into one car. The result is a formidable driving machine. The problem with taking these kinds of technological leaps is who is going to fix it if there is a problem. We have owned the car one month and have had the second system failure in the car. The first problem was with the dynamic drive system. The dealer was very accomodating but it took a week to diagnose the problem and get the right parts. Now we have our second repair in one month. If we have anymore difficulties with this car I will return it under the Lemon Law.

Mixed Bag - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By meredith - February 17 - 2:00 amFor all thoose that dont like the I- Drive use it over time it becomes very user friendly. As for the looks it is much better looking in person then in pictures. It is the best looking car on the road. The bad the car lurches at stops. Has a horrible shimmy from 45-60 and the computer somtimes has a mind of its own. BMW should have tested the car before sending it out on the street.

Scrap this car! - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By fazil - February 3 - 2:00 amI have had this car for 10 month and had to take it back to the dealer atleast 20 times. Its is still at the service shop for Piston failure. This car is a nightmare. Buying this car is buying a major Headace. I have had problems with the Nav, the sunroof, the engine, the airbag, and many other nagging electrical problems. BMW needs to do something about this for their customers.

truth in new technology - 2003 BMW 7-Series
By Imacgenius - June 3 - 2:00 amI think that the 745 is s beautiful car, but after 9 months and many recalls, poor reparirs, computer blow outs, and a few stranded experiences, i am not sure that it is worthy of the BMW name. Wish I got the Mercedes
