This Year's Model Updates:

The BMW 3 Series sedan and wagon have been completely redesigned for 2006. Major highlights include new features, more powerful engines, a slightly larger interior and the incorporation of BMW's latest exterior styling elements. The 3 Series coupe and convertible are unchanged this year but will eventually move over to the new platform being used for the sedan and wagon; expect to see a new hardtop convertible for the 2008 model year.

Pros:
  • Still the standard when it comes to perfectly sorted vehicle dynamics, high-quality interior materials, wide range of configurations to suit any style, available all-wheel drive for sedan and wagon.
Cons:
  • Still costs more than most of its competitors, lacking in interior storage space.

  • 330i, a class act - 2006 BMW 3-Series

All the things that make a sport sedan what it should be, the BMW330i has cornered and presented in a beautiful package. It never saw a curve that it didnt like and can run forever in the triple digits.

  • Run Flat Tires - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I love the car except the run flat tires , had to be replaced at 17K sounded like a dump truck, Transmission makes a whining noise. Handles like a dream, excellent braking and good service and warranty.

  • Last "classic" (e46) 3 series converts. - 2006 BMW 3-Series

What a great car! Its a "keeper" for sure. "ZHP" Performance Pkg (+$3900) makes the difference. Handles better than its Miata predecessor, and is waaay more comfortable. Sure its not a 300 hp twin turbo powerhouse. But its such a balanced drive, perfectly mating the 3 liter 6 (235 hp) to the chassis and "M" suspension components. With the 6 spd. manual, weve seen 32 mpg when were forced to cruise down an Interstate. The final iteration of the E46 body, nicely rounded off (vs the angularity of E90s) just seems more appealing to the eye and the overall timelessness of the shape. Get one, if youre at all considering it!

  • One of the best - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I recently purchased a 2006 BMW 330i with the sport and premium packages as well as an automatic transmission. I love this car. My only disappointment is the initial acceleration. This could be due to the automatic however once the engine is at a high RPM, the car flies!. I floored it to 100mph and it was amazing. I strongly recommend this car. The build quality is great and the comfort level is top-notch. The fuel economy could have been better but overall this car will not disappoint! Firm steering, excellent handling, BLUETOOTH!!! Excellent brakes, adaptive headlights, "will not roll backwards on a hill" feature. This car is amazing.

  • The ultimate driving machine - 2006 BMW 3-Series

Apparently its not just a marketing slogan. This is my first 3 series and Im certain it wont be my last. 2 and 1/2 years and 26,000 miles and Im still completely impressed with it. Its not just the smooth engine or the fantastic handling or how it communicates so perfectly with the driver. Its the total package in a The Sum is SO much more than the parts kind of way. In terms of being a "drivers" car I think it is car lengths ahead of much of its competition.

  • The best 3-series yet! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This car is a beauty to drive, be in, and look at. It hugs the road, has virtually no lean in tight curves, accelerates well and is ohhh so smooth and quiet. The inline 6 is peppy, and the handling is what you would expect from BMW. The interior well appointed (with the premium and winter packages) and the finish is flawless. Try the automatic transmission if you are uncomfortable with manual: the difference in 0 - 60 is there but is not that significant. All in all this is a fun car to drive to work, on weekends, or whenever you just feel like tainkg a spin.

  • Performance machine, not speed machine - 2006 BMW 3-Series

This car performs wonderfully. Tight precise steering and cutting corners at least is to be expected. The automatic transmission makes it pretty slow. It is probably quick enough for most average drivers and daily commutes, but if youre looking for a thrill, this car is not thrilling. Inside, it is spacious and pretty. The sound system could use a big upgrade, but its OK. If you put the top up/down while people are in the back, it hits them in the head. Gas mileage is very poor for this type of car. The sport mode is good. Theres a big aftermarket for performance parts. I would recommend this car if youre an average driver looking for a little fun when you want, but not for thril-seekers.

  • Love it! - 2006 BMW 3-Series

I just bought a used 325i, 6 speed manual and it is great. Very quick in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, exterior styling is great and feels very tight. This hugs the road and is a great performer. The 6 speed helps with gas mileage and average around 30-32 on the highway and 25-27 in town. Surprisingly roomy on the inside for a tall guy.

In having new performance cars for years, this the best car Ive had thus far. Absolutely no regrets in buying it! The 5 series is more car than I even wanted, a little big for me and pricier for things I wouldnt use anyway now, but I noticed that in 06 the new 325 has features built in that the 5 and 7 series have (some optional though) so when it comes to luxury and performance and good residual value, I think theyre an excellent choice, plus they handle like nothing Ive ever had before. I just picked one with the options I wanted vs paying extra for options Id never use anyway in a car so for me its perfect.
