  • Low quality performer - 2002 Audi S4

I couldnt be happier with the stock performance of this car. The price to performance and features ratio of this car cant be beat, and simple upgrades can make this car truly track ready. In the Northeast or snowy climes, no car on the road can touch it (B6 S4 and RS 6 aside). But quality, reliability, and dealer service is absolutely brutal. Electrical system problems are Audis specialty, but I have also had problems with everything from rattles to rivets popping to coolant pumps failing to leather spalling to ... Service quality and knowledge from dealers is poor (e.g. Audi service does not feel its necessary to rotate tires).

  • Best all around car - 2002 Audi S4

I recently went through the experience of having our 1st child and after 6 months realized that a stable of 2 Porsches wasnt working very well. I have always been a Porsche fanatic and owned a 930 turbo and a Boxster. Knowing that I needed to buy a more practical car but realizing I wouldnt be happy with less performance, I stumbled across the Audi S4. This car is the very best all around car that is on the market. It offers a stock 250hp twin turbo engine (which can easily be tuned to 310hp) with a max torque at 1850rpms. This thing shoots off the line and handles corners like a Porsche. Its also very comfortable, fits a baby seat in the backseat, has 4 doors, huge trunk, and can handle snow.

  • Rims and Tires - 2002 Audi S4

I love everything about the car but the Rims and Tires. All Wheel Drive should be good up North. Not according to Audi. They tell me to expect no more than 7500 miles from these tires and I should change rims at least once a year. At $3000 a year that is not comfortable. Pirelli says if you can afford the car you can afford the tires. Check what you are willing to pay. I have gone through $6,000. The stock tires are horrible in ice and snow.

  • "S" is for superlative! - 2002 Audi S4

The S4 was my first foray into the "rarified air" of automobiles. Forty large may be chump change to some, but I took the investment with deathly seriousness. That said, the finacial outlay was definitely worth it. The S4 is by far and away the most enjoyable, and complete, car Ive ever driven. I spent many months comparing it against the BMW 330, Infiniti G35, and hordes of other, similarly priced rides. In the final analysis, while each of those cars brings something very special to the show, the S4 seems to bring EVERYTHING. Its fast, safe, luxurious, and--at least compared with Bimmer, Porsche, and some of the other uber- marques--sanely priced.

  • An over-rated Audi - 2002 Audi S4

Audi should never even offer an automatic transmission in a car like this...even the Tiptronic. Aside from being "clunky," after 8,000 miles mine has been in the shop going on 3 weeks because it will no longer shift gears! The right rear brake make an ear shattering squeal and they cant seem to fix that either. The brakes are awful on the smallest amount of ice or snow. There is an unacceptable number of squeaks, rattles and buzzes inside. And, even though a small point, two of the cup holders are underneath the armrest...very handy! I guess Germans dont drink and drive. For the price, extreme disappointment is all I can say about this vehicle.

  • The S4 Rocks! - 2002 Audi S4

This is a great car. The Editors Rating(of 7.4) simply makes no sense. It looks good, is very fast, and extremely practical. Can you take 4 people across the country? No, but you can take 4 out to dinner. The interior is beautiful. My only complaints are: headroom (I have a tall torso), and the (6sp)shifter is a little notchy.

  • What a rush - 2002 Audi S4

A great alternative to a true "sports car". Great in bad weather, has 4 doors, fast, handles great without a harsh ride. Whats not to like? I would have to own 3 separate cars to do what this ONE can.
