Overview & Reviews
The RL is completely redesigned for 2005, and now sports a 300-horsepower V6 and standard all-wheel drive.
- Quiet cabin, handles well for a large sedan, excellent build and materials quality, unique all-wheel-drive system, innovative navigation system offers real-time traffic information.
- Lacks the low-end grunt of a V8, still lacks the prestige of its European competition.

Acura RL at 500 miles - 2005 Acura RL
By nyuboy23 - January 13 - 1:50 pmGreat car, by far the best value in its class. Acceleration slow at start due to its low torque, but from 30-100mph it is comparable to the bmw 540 (my old car). Excellent interior design, all wheel drive system makes it turn like a European car... excellent handling at high speed... excellent design

RL - 2005 Acura RL
By Mark Shedrofsky - January 5 - 1:20 amGreat car. The interior is fabulous, the exterior could look a bit more elegant. With all wheel drive the car handles incredibly well. XM Radio and hands free Blue tooth phone capability is great. Using the voice commands to adjust almost anything is nice, especially in bad weather, when you dont want to take your eyes off the road to adjust a dial.

2005 Acura RL - 2005 Acura RL
By Waltermac - December 15 - 12:56 pmWe had a bad accident in the rain in an FWD performance car (Volvo S60). The car spun out of control when the front weels hydroplaned. RWD and AWD had to be considered for the next purchase. I tried a number of all wheel drive alternatives (Audi, Volvo, BMW) and the RL was the only one that didnt plow around corners at speed. The responsiveness of the RL to driver input is terrific, and the handling is better than a BWW or Mercedes, IMHO. I think the cars exterior style is much better than you can you can see in photos. In person it has a wonderful agressive stance. The interior is beautiful, and well assembled: no rattles, very quiet, very Lexus like.

Honda build, Value Leader - 2005 Acura RL
By j read - November 10 - 6:26 amThe NEW RL 3.5 is a HUGE move in the right direction for Hondas premium line. When considering an E-350 M/B4-Matic, or the BMW-530, the RLs build and content wins, hands down. This car was a BEAR in the 10" snow we had in January. Who needs a gasguzzling SUV, when you can have this much performance and luxury for around 50 large. Sure it doesnt have the cachet that its German rivals have, but then again it doesnt have their "problems" either! For me, its not ALL about bang for thebuck, its about performance, quality, and luxury. To my mind the 05 RL 3.5 has it all. Did I mention "Japanese Build Quality" ??

RL Lover - 2005 Acura RL
By Bob Adair - August 27 - 8:13 amAs a former Acura TL owner I leased a 2004 Mercedes when I was ready for a new car because I didnt like the new shorter TL style and hated the old boxy RL. When the redesigned RL hit the market, I feel in love with the new sleeker RL body style and all of Acuras technology. It wasnt long before I was saying goodbye to my Mercedes and hello to a new RL. Its a dream to drive, has all of the amenities a driver could ask for, and at a very reasonable price. Before getting my new RL I considered another Mercedes and looked at the Lexus GS and for my money the RL beats them both. As soon as I drove my RL home I felt as if I had just put back on an old pair of comfortable slippers.

Aside from the rattly suspension..... - 2005 Acura RL
By Raja Bhat - July 19 - 11:40 pmSporty luxury sedan. Somewhat rough, choppy ride which perhaps is what it costs to get a tight, precise handling. Worrisome rattle from the suspension going over ruts and bumps, clearly audible at low speed. I have not heard of this problem from anyone else on this forum, however. Hope they can find the problem. Incredible array of electronic gadgetry; Onstars phone system wont accept incoming calls, yet to be fixed. Sound system is superb, but XM satellite radio suddenly loses its memory of its presets. Would I buy this car again...yes, but if they can fix the rattle in the suspension. It is not becoming of a $50K Acura flagship car! Id say this: always test drive car with radio off!

Acuras Real Luxury - 2005 Acura RL
By Jim Blazer - July 7 - 2:46 pmThe RL (Real Luxury) is just that. A great auto to drive and beats all the competition in its price range. The Ulitmate Driving Machine isnt a Beemer. Its an RL!
