This Year's Model Updates:

This year the MDX receives standard XM Satellite Radio, a Bluetooth hands-free cell phone interface on Touring models, a larger fuel tank and an enhanced stability control system. The optional rear entertainment system now includes an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and the navigation system has an enhanced database. MDXs with navigation also include the OnStar communications system.

Pros:
  • Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

  • Great Car - 2005 Acura MDX

Bought this car new in March 05 and have loved every minute of it. My only regret was not talking the wife into getting the Navi. Test drove all the competitors, but the MDX blew them all away. I love the car-like handling. The bluetooth can have trouble picking up my voice when the air or heater is on. It has led to some frustrating exchange (me--"dial 911" MDX--"now calling 753." Also, there is a sloshing sound from the gas tank. I took it back to the dealier shortly after purchase, but there was nothing they could do about it. Eventually, I just got used to it, and I no longer notice it.

  • Borrow some minivan features - 2005 Acura MDX

Not bad for driver, but third row passengers are very limited. Need more leg room and easy to get in/off. How about power sliding rear doors instead of traditional wings and power lift gate would be a good features to borrow from minivans. Automatic doors locking feature at the speed greater than 20 mph.

  • Performance and comfort - 2005 Acura MDX

I find the ride of the mdx to be smooth and comfortable. Interior is roomy and stylish with extras that I expect out of a luxury suv. gas mileage is usually 20 to 21 miles per gallon for me. That is good for this size vehicle. its not hard to get in and out of (not to high, not to low). If Acura wants any suggtions, the only thing is, I feel like for the price they should have added more wood grain to interior, such as the steering wheel and control panel. This should have been standard the the touring package.

  • Solid overall, room for improvement - 2005 Acura MDX

Got it with the nav and RES options. The RES is a must if you have kids. Ride is still smooth after 2 years and 35K miles. Averaged 24.8 MPG at steady 70 mph on last freeway trip with wife, 2 kids and cargo. Still love the MDX and weve had zero issues with the car. I use the Bluetooth often to talk hands-free and the Bose stereo sounds great. Only things I should have gotten up front were a cargo net for the back and running boards to help boost the little kids (under 4) and great-grandma.

  • A great all-purpose SUV - 2005 Acura MDX

Extremely comfortable, quiet ride with excellent performance. I purchased with all the bells and whistles, including DVD with rear speaker control - perfect for long trips with kids. Also, with two rows of seats that fold down, easily converts to a good SUV for hauling stuff. Bluetooth for the mobile phone is now a must-have. The voice-activated nav system seemed cool at first, but it was the one thing that didnt always perform perfectly. Still, this is my first Acura and the best vehicle I have ever owned.

  • 05 MDX - 2005 Acura MDX

A very solid car. Acura has gone to great lengths to correct some of the problems of the more recent models such as the gas tank slosh and the brake clunking. The new acoustic lining has done wonders to mitigate noise. This is one silent and solid vehicle. Leather appears improved over prior models as well.

  • Great value - 2005 Acura MDX

Hands down the best automobile Ive owned. Did lots of research on SUVs before deciding on the MDX, and so far I havent been sorry with my decision. great zip, room for 7, and the Navigation system that never ceases to amaze. Awesome sound system; rear DVD a must have for those with kids. Incredible number of features for the money. Very refined car, with the quality of Honda to back it up. Every control right where its supposed to be - when you get into the drivers seat of this vehicle, youll feel right at home!

  • Most Outstanding Vehicle!! - 2005 Acura MDX
    By -

I have owned a lot of nice vehicles, but the Acura MDX is my favorite vehicle Ive ever had! It does everything well. I have the navigation system on mine, which I personally would never want to be without again. Acura has the best one out there, in my opinion. I test drove a lot of cars and SUVs before I bought this one, and nothing compared. I have had 7 people in my car for a sightseeing trip, and it was wonderful. I also have had the challenge and fun of driving my MDX through blizzard conditions and on snow-packed, icy steep hills in Pittsburgh, PA, and I went down a very very steep hill in AWD and never even slid. The vehicle in front of me had gone down the hill sideways!

  • What a car!! - 2005 Acura MDX

After test-driving 15+ different SUVs, the Acura won out. We seriously looked at the Lexus but with only 5 seats, it wasnt large enough for the option of my childrens friends accompanying us anywhere. The navigation system is awesome, and a lot of fun to use. The reverse camera is very useful, although you can be fooled with the scale of it (everything looks far away). You can get spoiled with the automatic wipers, speeding up/slowing down as needed. Very useful for city driving. The Bose sound system is awesome. The entertainment system displays the XM songs and artists on the screen, which the children have been having a lot of fun with. I cant gush enough - I love this car!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good SUV made better - 2005 Acura MDX

Traded 03 for 05 touring with Nav. The new car is better in every way, quieter, quicker and with better body integrity. List of additional features compared to the 03 is very long: side curtain air bags, power lumbar, built in XM, better nav, voice commands for nearly everything, better dashboard display, better audio, six disc dash CD, bluetooth, Onstar, bigger gas tank. The Japanese, unlike American manufacturers, listen to consumers and make continuing updates.
