Overview & Reviews
Introduced last year, Acura's capable SUV receives only minor changes for 2002. There are four new exterior colors, and enhancements have been made to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
- Powerful V6 engine, roomy interior, fold-flat third-row seat, sophisticated 4WD system.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, lacks personality.

decent car...Terrible transmission - 2002 Acura MDX
By JohnA.Feer - April 15 - 2:41 pmThis car is a good car short term. After my second year owning this car a bunch of lights came up on the dashboard. After getting it checked, weeks later the transmission starting to fail. acura has honda products including the transmission, and honda is known for the worst transmission. The car starting bucking and did not get into gear, and would have trouble reversing. Very comfy, nice options, but just bad transmission, and sunroof.

Disappointing - 2002 Acura MDX
By vegas - February 10 - 3:13 amThis was one of the more disappointing vehicles that I have owned. Vehicle clunks when shifting from forward to reverse (dealer says it cannot be repaired). Cant drive with the windows down as it creates pressure inside vehicle. The list goes on.

Value for your money - 2002 Acura MDX
By Bman - October 31 - 10:00 amTraded in 98 Acura TL for extra space, went back to Acura for reliability & comfort. This thing is a dream to drive - good power (particularly for weight of vehicle), smooth transmission, great handling, very comfortable/convenient. Looks great inside and out - catch a lot of people taking notice when you drive by. Lets face it, SUVs arent cheap, but you get your moneys worth with this one.

MDX - Beat out Navigator, X-5, etc. - 2002 Acura MDX
By Vance Moore - October 31 - 10:00 amExcellent vehicle! Build quality was well above average. Navigation system simple, intuitive, comprehensive. We looked at Lexus, Mercedes, Lincoln, & Infinity. This was the best overall for handling, convenience, and fun!

Great vehicle - 2002 Acura MDX
By MDXer - October 15 - 8:43 pmBought it 8 months ago. Great family hauler. Feels and looks solid. Very comfortable inside. Very good handling and acceleration. Excellent crash test results by the IIHS. NHTSA,although they have not crashed it head on, also gave it 5 stars for side impact crashing and 4 stars for rollover(most SUVs are either 3 or 2). It comes loaded so the dealers cannot play many games with options. We looked at the RX 300 but the MDX won hands down in terms of pricing and features.

Much better than ML320 - 2002 Acura MDX
By maxmax54 - August 7 - 10:00 amI had a Mercedes ML 320, this car is so far superior to that truck I cannot begin to think of the ways. The many visits to the snotty Mercedes dealer are a thing of the past (thank god!). My MDX is three months old, I had already been back to the Mercedes dealer three times with the ML 320. More room, better interior, quieter AC, no wind noise, no pieces falling off, no comparison!
