I have purchased at least four cars from this dealership over the past 15+ years, but my most recent experience has soured me on Honda of Freehold. Needing to purchase a used car for my sons, to replace a worn-out Civic, we attempted to negotiate a reasonable total price (the price of the car AND the added dealer costs that are tacked on and drive up the bottom line price). There was almost no moving on the total cost of a used 2013 Civic coupe - The salesman, after consulting with his manager and given the chance to confirm our status as long-time customers who consistently have our cars serviced at this dealership, came back with an unacceptable counter-offer. Additionally, the car we identified on Cars.com and contacted the internet sales rep about, was not prepared for our scheduled visit: the battery was dead and we stood in the parking lot waiting 10 minutes for the salesman to 1. attempt to jumpstart it with another car, 2. bring a tech over with a portable charging unit. From the visible condition under the hood and in the cabin, the car was not particularly clean. It was a disappointing experience, only magnified by the positive experience we had at Pine Belt Chevrolet where we purchased a clean, attractive used car for a very reasonable price.

Before I do any big purchases I always look at the reviews. When reading the review I was shocked what some people had to say .. so I decided to call and see for myself . I was given a spiel that my sales rep. includes his cell phone because he wants to be the most helpful and available to his customers as possible. Yet, I had a really hard time getting into contact with him - voicemails at the office, emails, and text messages/calls to his cell phone. I was told that they had a car in stock for me, but when I returned the same evening I waited 30-45 min just for him to tell me he read his stock sheet incorrectly and they had the manual not automatic version. I returned another day and had to sit for two hours to be told that I would not be able to be helped in the time I had left. I was promised that if I took the morning off work the following Monday, I should be "out of here by 10 am". I was there 9 am opening and sat around till 9:20 am when I got fed up and was only then informed me that he had me waiting because he was trying to get me a good price on a different car. I ended up sitting there till about 2/3 pm when all my paperwork was finally ready to go. I had a number of questions that I repeatedly asked the sales rep. who first did not get back to me for 2 days, then promised to answer those questions by the following morning and never did, then when asked in person he would only answer a couple questions at a time after repeating them over and over (he kept going back to "find out" about the next question and then would try to move on to something else). I had specific financial scenarios I was looking at which he asked his manager to personally answer for me due to his time constraints. By that time I had to leave for another commitment, having been sitting there for 2 hours under the impression that most of my sales process had already been completed and I was ready to go into financing pending these questions answered. The manager made a big show of how he would answer my finance questions over email "within 10 minutes". Never happened. When on my 5th visit for which I had to take the morning off work (and eventually the whole day since it took so long), I finally did finish the process, Frank changed what he said about my grad rebate a number of times. In a previous visit he told me the grad rebate I asked about was only for financed vehicles, not leased. Wrong - website says it clearly. Then he told me my grad rebate does not apply because I went to a school in England, though it is US accredited. Then he came back and asked for my diploma citing that "you know what, Im going to try to get you that grad rebate". In actuality, the financing office informed me after that Frank "misunderstood" and that I was in fact always on the grad rebate which is why though I expected lower payments after this rebate, the number stayed exactly the same since it was calculated using the grad rebate all along. This also means Franks show of kindness that he would "try to get me the grad rebate" was a deliberate manipulation. I was aggravated and told that the finance rep. understands my frustration but sales reps. just dont understand the finance portion of it and "what can you do". So basically telling me that the customer has no other recourse then to accept that he/she will be given incorrect finance info from a sales rep. and only after theyve already signed the initial documents to begin a purchase/lease and then gone in to the financing office will they find out otherwise. I was given a stream of documents to sign quickly and I tried to read them thoroughly but the finance rep. kept trying to hurry me. I am on a lease and they stated in the contract that the cars current odometer reading was at 21 miles, when I had seen it was on 88. Finally, when I asked about a total loss protection agreement I was signing, they acted like it was a complimentary benefit offered by Honda when I saw later that it was an "optional" benefit I purchased for over $300. This was my mistake for not combing over more thoroughly but at that point I was so on edge and missed it, which I deeply regret.

I purchased a Honda Accord coupe back in February from this dealership. I got a flat tire last night. Called Honda road size assistance. Tow truck came, got ready to change the tire but could not find the key to unlock the tires. We looked everywhere looks like the dealership failed to put the key in the car. Not only that, there were parts missing for the jack! Since it was ten at night I had no choice to get towed home. Not through Honda road side because they only tow you to the nearest dealership, even if its ten at night and the dealership isnt open. In the morning I called the freehold dealership to see what my options are. They did not even apologize and told me I had to take it to the nearest dealership. Since I was in Bensalem pa, freehold was not close. I explained to them I will be charged for them swapping out my locks. I shouldnt have to pay for that since they forgot to provide the key. They said I should just go ahead and pay it and try to contact sales to see if I can get reimbursed. My dad called them also to complain about this issue. He was informed they are under new management since I purchased the car and did not have the records for previous purchases. My dad tried to talk to a manager but he was told currently there is no one that carries the title sales manager. Finally the person told my dad he would speak to someone and call him back. He has yet to call him back. I am extremely unhappy with this dealership! Go elsewhere people!
