Due to unforeseen circumstances, my Wife and I were on an extremely time sensitive search for a very specific vehicle: a new(er) Blizzard Pearl White Toyota Prius. As it turned out, Volkswagen of Rochester had the exact car that we were in search of. On a Wednesday afternoon, we called to verify that it was still available, and ventured down from Maine. We arrived at the dealership roughly 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close. Even with our late arrival, we were not made to feel rushed at any point in the process. Chet Yung was the Representative that we worked with, and he was beyond helpful, from start to finish, and addressed every question/concern that we had; even though it was now 30 minutes past the time he was scheduled to leave for the evening. Keep in mind, this was not even a Volkswagen vehicle! Due to the late hour, financing was not available until the following day, so we placed a deposit and returned to Maine. Given that my Wife and I work completely opposite schedules, and we were currently down to a single vehicle, getting back down to Rochester proved to be near impossible. Two weeks went by, during which Chet maintained regular communication with me and assured me that we would make it happen soon. To make a long story short, Chet ended up going so far above and beyond any customer service that I have ever experienced; and I dont mean in the auto industry...I mean in any industry; ever. He arranged to have a fellow associate, Scot Kinville, follow him to our home in Maine on a Saturday, so that he could hand deliver our new Prius to our front door. My Wife works 7p-7a as a Nurse, so she was sleeping during this delivery. I signed my portion of the paperwork on the hood of the car, and was able to run upstairs and have her sign hers while barely waking her. I am still baffled, not only by the easy and fair purchase of our new vehicle, but even more by the way that Chet and Volkswagen of Rochester completely shattered my expectations of the car buying experience. Purchasing a vehicle from a dealership can often be a fairly unpleasant experience; this was the exact opposite. Thank you Chet, Scot, and Volkswagen of Rochester for making us 110% satisfied customers. I will never forget this experience, and plan to share it with anyone considering a vehicle purchase.

I was in the market for a used Volkswagon convertable. There was only three in NewEngland. I called the first two and they wouldnt talk to me even though I told tham I was over 2 hour drive from them. Then I Called VW or Rochester and got through to Casey Beranger who was more than happy to discuss price and certified warrenty price over the phone. Casey was pleasent over several phonecalls over two days and even put me through to the sales manager so I could shake him down for a few extra hundred and an inspection sticker. When I got there I got the royal welcome and everybody I came in contact with thanked me and said they really appreciated my business. If you are shopping around for a car I would reccomend you give Casey a call first and she will set the bar for your other calls/visits.

My recent purchase from VW of Rochester was of a VW Golf R. I worked mainly with Mr. Carpenter. From start to finish, they were fair, honest, and straight forward. I traded-in my car last week and bought a used VW, and I couldnt be happier with the buying experience. I had been shopping for a new car, but this dealer didnt have the model I was looking for in stock, so they pointed me to a used car on their lot that was similar to what I wanted. Scott was the salesman who helped me, and Jordan took care of the financing and other paperwork. While looking for a used vehicle, I stopped in at VW of Rochester to test drive a vehicle that was what I was looking for. It was evident that the vehicle needed a proper alignment (pulled very hard to the right), and also needed to have the tires balanced or replaced (shaking steering wheel and whomp whomp whomp noise). When I brought this up on the test drive, the sales rep stated that "all vehicles are designed to drift to the right so that they do not cross the center line in the event of someone falling asleep at the wheel." Because of this, the certified vehicle would not have an alignment done, nor did "the shaking tires need anything done to them." Needless to say, I would recommend buying from a dealership that is focused on customer service rather than saving a few dollars. I must say that I am amazed by all the great reviews on this site. I am sure the VW of Rochester is fine for new vehicles (its pretty hard to screw up a vehicle right off the assembly line), but I would say run away if you are looking at used or want a dealership that you can trust.

I did a lot of research looking for the perfect VW Beetle to purchase for my wife. I visited two other Volkswagen dealers locally and upon arriving to "just look" I felt pressured by there sales staff. I visited Volkswagen of Rochester to "just look" at the car on there sales floor and was greeted right away by anyone who walked near me. I was approached by a salesman who asked if I needed help and I said I was all set. He thanked me for coming in and said if I needed help to let him know. There was zero pressure which is the way all dealers should be! After leaving that day I went home and emailed the dealer inquiring about the car. I was immediately emailed back by John from the Internet dept. John called me that afternoon with all the answers to my questions. A few days later I visited the dealership and met up with John who hooked me up with a salesman Gary. Gary sat down with me and asked how he could help. I explained I was looking to get out of a lease and into a new lease on the beetle. He took all my info and what I wanted for a payment. He then went to work on my deal. Gary was back within minutes with all the details and options on paper so I could see them. Gary explained them to me and they were very fair. I asked Gary what it would cost to purchase the car and he got the answer for me right away. Gary explained the payment and helped me to decide that purchasing would be better for me. We made the deal and set up a time to come back for delivery. Upon coming back 2 short hours later the car was ready and Gary was there to great us. We sat down with Gary who covered a few things on the car and then went to finalize the deal with Ian. Ian took the time to explain to us everything to do with the vehicle financing. Ian even helped us with questions we had on returning our other lease. Right after all papers were signed Gary took the time to go over the car completely with my very excited wife. They have followed up with us more then once after purchase with phone calls and not just a blanket email. This really was an amazing car buying experience for me and my family. I will recommend them to anyone who asks and will most definitely do business with them again. I had posted previously about the fact that the buying process was friendly and easy. This statement still holds true...the process of buying was easy. Sadly, how this dealership has handled an issue after the purchase has tainted the experience. After we purchased a CPO Touareg from VW of Rochester, we had a slowly leaking tire. Upon inspection, we found that the dealership sold us a vehicle that has a plugged tire. The CPO program requires that all tires have "no damage." VW of Rochester has stated that a plugged tire is perfectly acceptable on a CPO vehicle, the same as it would be acceptable on a new vehicle. I spoke with VW Corp. and although they agreed with me on the issue, they have no recourse with an independent dealer. Needless to say, buying a certified vehicle and needing to replace tires in less than 45 days is unacceptable. I would not be complaining if I ran over a nail, hit a curb, or otherwise damaged the tire on my own, but the fact is that this dealership did not live up to what the VW CPO program promises.

First, I NEVER think to write a review as a consumer, but after several visits to the service center, I felt prompted to provide this testimony. The entire service team at VW of Rochester is there to take care of its customers - from handling a same day repair or two, to helping me map out and prioritize an action plan since I am fairly low income and cannot take care of all my upkeep and maintenance services in one visit. Upon wrap up of my first service over a year and a half ago, I felt Ive finally found someplace that takes care of me, not just my car. Several routine visits later, I can share that I have enough history with them to say my initial feeling has been confirmed over and over again. Many (most?) businesses have mission statements or company goals which put the customer first, and sadly, while that may be the intent, it is trumped by bottom lines, quotas and pressure to meet and exceed financial goals, I dont think this is a secret. While VW of Rochester obviously seeks to thrive as a business, I truly believe they SEEK to thrive by focusing on customer good will and customer retention and loyalty. By doing so, I think they hope customers will highly recommend them, as I do. Im fairly low income, and at other service centers, Ive been very aware that Ive been profiled as less an asset - a customer of less value. This was clearly reflected in waiting times, unreturned phone calls, status updates that mirrored the previous status update (as in, they didnt touch my car, almost as if they forgot it was there) and sloppy work (like installing a defective cam shaft sensor, seemingly careless in ordering/receiving a part, but not installing it saying that they were waiting for me to give them the go ahead to install, which I had already done twice). One hand didnt know what the other was doing, and these are large, very busy, very profitable service centers. Its not a good feeling wondering if the techs have tightened one screw while loosening another, noticing new problems immediately after a repair or maintenance service had been done. Yeah, Ive been bitter and jaded. I think how confident I am in VW of Rochester, how comfortable I am knowing they will strive to do the right thing even by going an extra mile to find a used part to minimize cost. Theyve been up front with me in letting me know when I dont NEED to have an issue fixed right NOW, allowing me time to save money. How many times have I asked other service centers "Is this an emergency? How long can I safely wait to get this work done?" and gotten an ambiguous response of "Well... you dont want to wait too long" as if to imply something bad COULD happen at any moment or "Id get it done within 2 weeks" when I could wait much longer in order to save up money. Same scenario, VW of Rochester has asked me “well, what kind of driving do you do? If you drive mostly to and from work locally, you’ll be alright for a couple of months, but I wouldnt put it off longer than that”. Honest, knowledgeable, decent. Did I say everyone at VW of Rochester is friendly? No kidding. Even the salesmen who I have no business with greet me. I believe they practice customer loyalty every day, every customer, every time. I believe every employee strives to embody the golden rule of treating others as theyd want to be treated. I believe I WILL get the right service, reasonably priced, quickly. I know Im encouraged that, even though my financial circumstances may be somewhat dicey and confining and can limit what they can do, they will do everything possible to make it work. I know Ive found the right place for my car (and for me!) and I no longer question what might be happening with my car on the other side of those service doors. I know they will help me navigate my car’s health without taking advantage of me and probably most importantly, I know Im valued.

We live in Wisconsin and wanted a particular used car (a VW Beetle Bug Convertible), and we found it online through this dealership. I was nervous because I am not the type of person who generally buys used cars and definitely not the type of person who makes a major purchase sight unseen! I worked with the BEST sales person whose name is Jimmy B. He went over and beyond what most people would expect. He promptly answered calls and email messages (and there were many). He answered all questions (and there were many). He addressed all concerns (and there were many). Once we made the decision to purchase the car, Jimmy had the car completely checked over and cleaned/detailed for us - complete with flower in the vase. He even suggested that we mail our license plates to him so that he would have them on the car when we picked it up. The office staff and service staff were also great to work with. At first we were going to hire a transport company to pick up the car for us, but that got complicated, so we decided to make it an adventure! We booked flights from Green Bay to Boston, where Jimmy personally picked us up! Amazing customer service. When we got to the dealership we were amazed to see that it was a small, family run business and not like the impersonal, mega-car/dealerships we have in our area. My husband and I were so impressed with EVERYTHING that we said that we would repeat our long-distance adventure and buy our next car (used or new) from this dealership when the time is right. I marked five stars/excellent on all aspects of this review; however, Volkswagen of Rochester NH, and Jimmy B, are ten stars plus!

I called Rochester VW, regarding a KIA Optima I saw listed on their web site. I was able to do all of the sales negotiations over the phone and through emails. The sales process was one of the easiest I have gone through, considering this is the 4th car I have purchased this year. John Carpenter our sales person was excellent. I didnt get the typical sales pitch, very straight forward. The Finance MGR , JT emailed me a finance form which I was able to complete at home. When I arrived at the dealership, I was out of there with my car In about 45 minutes. Our KiA Optima was in great shape, very clean and exactly how John described the car to me. There was a small issue with the rear brakes, R.VW took the car into service and immediately corrected the problem. I am very happy with the sales process and would defiantly recommend them for anyone in the market of a new or used car.I noticed that they have some great cars at excellent prices on the lot. I also spoke to John about a Passat, that I was also able to get a great price and reasonable trade in value for my car. Even the facility is impressive, very modern. Not your typical dealership.

You might be impressed with those giant fancy dealerships you see by the highways or advertised on TV. This dealership/service center has helped me tremendously this past year after a year of trouble and hassle with another dealership. They have been extremely helpful in letting me know what repairs were needed and gave me a sense that, finally, my car would be back in good condition, affordably. Money is always tight for me, so theyve helped me prioritize my repairs and whenever possible, theyve included a complimentary service, and given me tips on how I can save money in the future, including providing me a rebate form for a discount on my next oil change from Castrol. Not all dealerships and service centers operate with integrity as has been my experience in the past. They invited me back to look underneath my car and show me the issues they found and explained what they were and how soon I should get the repairs done, including an advisory not to take a leisure road trip down to New York until Ive had 2 particular repairs (that they showed me) done first. Perhaps nothing would have happened had I taken my car on this trip, but seeing the areas needing repair and knowing why they were important before going on a long haul may likely have saved me tons of grief and hassle on the road, far from home. Props to this dealership.

I had my car towed to VW of Rochester the other night, long after business hours. I dropped my key in their night drop box and they were in touch with me the next morning with the cause of the trouble and the pricing to get it fixed. I had actually scheduled service for the car the following day, at another dealer, but Im glad I got stranded closer to Rochester, because I ended up having them do the service as well. The car was ready when they said it would be. The people were very nice, and they washed the car for me before I picked it up. Most impressively, if youre a freak about a clean car like I am, is that they cleaned the nasty grease stains that the guy who towed the car had left all over the inside of it! I was so happy to find those gone when I picked the car up. Thank you! So, even though Rochester is slightly further from my home than the other alternative, I will be taking the car back to VW of Rochester for future repairs and service.

Steve Beranger was fantastic to deal with. im from Maine and was traveling in NH yesterday. about 5 miles past VW Rochester my car broke down. He helped with getting AAA on the phone, had a service person (Nick) come pick me up, give me a loaner car so i could get to my meeting 30 minutes away! All was done quickly, professionally and curtiously. it was a great experience. i may even travel from Maine to Rochester next time im in the market for my next VW.

I always take my Beetle to this VW dealership. I bought it there , plus I had a 2001 Beetle that I bought and had all service done there and in l971 (or 72 I forget) we had a Beetle that was purchased there. The folks are always pleasant and accommodating as to day and time. If I were to buy a new VW I would buy from these folks.

I was a first time buyer and they helped me though the whole process of getting financed. Very nice sales team they have and outstanding customer service. They made sure i got the car i really wanted. Id also like to stress the fact that they really really went though the whole process to get me financed becasue i went to another dealership that got back to me about a week later, but VW of Rochester got back to right away. Also the other dealership was saying i was going to need a co-signer, but I was amazed at how VW of Rochester told me i was approved to be financed without a co-signer. This dealership is awesome!!

I stopped into the service department to schedule an appointment to have a special order part installed. As a shot in the dark I had stated that I had time if they could install the part at that time. Without hesitation the service advisor ensured there was room in the shop and arranged to have my car brought in immediately. I have been a VW owner for quite some time, currently driving a 2001 Cabrio. This isnt so much of a review as just a "Thank You note" for taking care of my friends who are recently new to the USA and had a unique set of problems when it came to buying a car. VW of Rochester was able to put them in a car that fit their budget, but more importantly, they stood behind the vehicle they sold my friends even though the vehicle was labeled "as is". In fact, they replaced expensive parts which failed several days after the sale. Ive never seen a dealer treat people better than my friends were treated at VW of Rochester! The sales and service people are great, Maybe most importantly, I noticed that theres a good relationship between sales and service. Ive dealt with a different dealer in the area since the early 70s, I know the owner well, and he knows me, were pretty good friends. However, the next time I buy a car, Ill go to VW of Rochester FIRST! Friendship is one thing, business is another. Again,,,,,,,Thank you, so much!!!

I saw the car I wanted on their website. It was a great price, compared to even the larger dealers. Jimmy was great, very helpful and informative. Of course he knew the car was in excellent shape and to prove that to me he asked the owner Jordan if he would give me a 12 month bumper to bumper warranty and he did. When I had a problem with the key, Jordan offered to pay for it, $175.00, even though it wasnt covered by the warranty. Thats what I call great customer service. I would definitely buy through them again, and will be recommending them to my friends. I LOVE MY CAR!!!

I went to VW of Rochester after seeing a used Jetta Sportwagen they had online. I met Gary and he took me on a test drive over every type of road from twisty, to hilly, back roads to highway. He answered every question I had clearly and concisely and then let the car sell itself. I did not feel rushed at all. I asked if I could take the car myself and he said sure and take as much time as I wanted. When I asked where I would plug my Ipod in, he not only showed me where, but brought out a digital cord so I could really hear the sound quality. I ended up buying the car above the price I wanted, but the way they were willing to let me experience the car (no pressure) made the sale.
