I went into the dealership looking for a BRZ. The price offered by Subaru Santa Monica was unbeatable compared to the prices offered by other dealerships. The performance package offered by Subaru for the BRZ is better than anything Toyota offers for the GT 86. Thanks to the excellent customer service provided by Vance. The only issue I had was it took about a week to obtain my manufacturer certificate of origin.

Vance was amazing. I went in for the first time 9 months ago, just to look. He approached me and treated me with respect from the get go. Actually listened to what I wanted and took notes. After I left, he followed up with me every month. His commitment to follow up sets him apart from your average sales man. Finally I went in this past weekend, he remembered what I wanted, showed me and took me out for a drive. When we got back, I was getting ready for the haggle part. Dealing with the team at Subaru Santa Monica was a total game changer. Void of the usual aggressive, shifty, manipulation that is involved in buying a car, I would actually go as far as saying that it was an extremely pleasant experience. Vance was my main point of contact and I cant recommend him highly enough. His calm, kind demeanor is coupled with oodles of knowledge and experience, and I felt like I was being advised by a well-informed friend rather than a pushy salesman. He was clear and communicative and I have driven away in a car that I am truly in love with. So delighted to be part of the Subaru family. "Awful- Do Not Buy A Car Here"
AWFUL- Do NOT get your vehicle from here. I have purchased Subarus from other dealers in the past and have family members who work for Subaru... so it pains me to write this review... but I could not be more dissatisfied on EVERY LEVEL with my experience at Subaru Santa Monica. PLEASE- Do NOT get your Subaru from this dealer. Trust me. If you dont feel like reading my entire post-- here is the gist. Dirty sales tactics are practiced, crappy 3rd party insurance pitches when you go to sign your lease, unresponsive and awful customer service from the top down (GM, Finance team, service team, etc.)... and if your car needs servicing-- that experience is also a massive headache. My sales person (Willie) was nice, but outside of that every interaction has been awful. I was conned into a bad deal on the day I signed my lease by their finance person, Sam, who has since left. Their current finance manager isnt much better in terms of getting back to you and making you feel like a valued customer. So if you need something from them-- good luck. Their finance team are 100% unresponsive. Ive emailed them well over 30 times and get no response unless I pepper them multiple times a day. Dont even bother calling, they will not pick up. I then had to take my car into service and after leaving my car there all day (and dealing with a mediocore shuttle service that did not show up for over an hour), I got to my car (which they promised to wash and did not) and they told me there was nothing wrong. Which isnt the case as my MPG is 17 when it should be 27. Not to mention the electronics in the car always glitch out and shut off everytime you make a call via Apple Car Play.

"Best Car Buying Experience Ever!"
I came in about 6 months ago to take a look at some Subarus because my car is getting to the 100,000 mile mark. I met Vance Walden, one of the sales people there and he was extremely nice and helpful. We talked about the 3 different models that I had interest in, the outback, forester and crosstrek. He was extremely knowledgeable in all the options each car provided and we talked about the pros and cons of each one. Then he offered to let me drive one. I chose the forester because it was the best fit for my price range and not to big or small, which was important to me because I wanted a vehicle that was comfortable and convenient but not too much of a pain to park because parking can be crazy in LA. After we drove the Forester he suggested that I also drive the turbo version so I could feel the difference in power. So I ended driving both engine options and he even suggested I take it over some bumps to feel the suspension and whip it around some corners to feel how an all wheel drive vehicle handles. Wow! Such an amazing car for the price. I had to get back to work but we exchanged business cards after he had spend almost 2 hours with me. A few days later he called to check in with me but I told him I wasnt quite sure if I was ready to pull the trigger yet because my car still drives great even though its 10 years old. Whats so awesome is he asked my permission if I wouldnt mind if he called back from time to time just to check on me. I thought that was super considerate that he asked my permission first. Needless to say he checked in with me once a month just to see if I was ready to buy yet but never pressured me or hassled me. A few times I didnt pick up he just left a message to say hi and let me know if I was thinking of buying to give him a ring. It wasnt constant harassing phone calls which Ive had that experience from other salesmen. After a few months I ended up buying a small house and when he checked in I told him all my money went there and I just wasnt financially able to afford a new car at the moment. He congratulated me on the house and just let me know if I was ever interested again to give him a call. Well my girlfriend was just in need of a new car so I suggested she get a Subaru because we do like to take trips and do outdoors stuff plus her last car was a hatchback which she found extremely convenient. Of course I remembered how patient kind and considerate Vance was so when we went to the dealership I immediately asked for him. He had just gone home for the day but we came back and he remembered me from months prior and asked how my place was going. Anyways he did such a great job taking care of us and got my girlfriend a new forester at almost $3000 below sticker price. Im so jealous of her car now... If you go to Subaru of Santa Monica, you gotta ask for Vance, such a kind sweet and patient guy and so helpful respectful and worked to get us such an awesome deal. It was a pleasure working with him. When its time for me to get my Subaru Ill definitely be going back to Vance!

Let me start out by saying that I hate the process of buying a new car. I always walk away feeling like I didn’t get a good deal, or that the salesperson didn’t care or didn’t know about the car, or I find out that the quoted price had all these hidden fees and the price went up. None of that was true at Subaru Santa Monica. From the moment I walked in to the moment I drove away I felt taken care of and heard. Even the “special non-negotiable online price†was negotiated. They didn’t even do that thing when you give them a price then they have to “talk to their guy behind the door†and then they counter offer. Frank and his team answered all my questions and really knew their product. The salesman Everest Armstrong (that is a perfect comic book hero name) was super friendly and knew everything about the car. When it came to the contract signing I was terrified. I thought, “here it comes. This is when they get meâ€. The finance manager Samantha Mohan was incredible. We went over everything one at a time and she made explained why I would or would choose extra services. At no point was anything “strongly recommended†for me. She was also really funny I pretty sure my 6 year old wants to marry her. He was “very excited†and was a little stir crazy from sitting around all day and was not on his best behavior at all. Not even close. She dealt with him perfectly and kept him busy. Let me also add that this dealership just moved to this building the day before which was half the size of the old place. (It’s being renovated) The place was packed with people and you could barely walk around in the lot because there were so many cars. They weren’t even fully moved in but you couldn’t see anybody stressed out. At the end of that day I drove away and the first thing I said to my wife was, “That was a great experience. I want to buy another car from them.†I am actually looking forward to it. The people I dealt with are people that I genuinely want to hang out with. The people working there looked like they loved being there and it showed. I couldn’t have asked for a better car buying experience.

I really get nervous buying a car. I had researched what I wanted so I thought I knew what model I was considering. The test drive went well, it was as long as I wanted. Went over all the details of the features I wanted with with the salesperson. Got all the explanations I needed. They did not have the exact car I wanted in stock but found one in San Diego. It was delivered to my home two days later (next day was not convenient for me). The controls etc. had been explained to me at the dealership but were again explained and demonstrated when it was delivered. Because I got all the attention I needed I have the car I wanted and I am very happy with it.

From the moment Subaru Santa Monica first contacted me about my inquiries for a new 2017 Outback, I knew I was dealing with somewhere special. Veronica Simon, the internet specialist, went above and beyond when we first communicated and negotiated through email. She made sure everything was set before I even stepped foot into the dealership. She worked hard along with Chris Hales (more on him in a bit), the internet sales manager, to fit my budget. She was always available to help and respond through email, texts, and phone calls. Once everything was set, I went in and met with the salesperson, Trai Boyd. The first thing I noticed about him was how genuinely excited he is for me. You can tell he truly enjoyed the product/brand he was selling. His attitude and demeanor made the entire experience very pleasant. He didnt try and pull any tricks or deviate from what I was told by Veronica online, so I really appreciated that. I will be sure to contact Trai for me future Subaru needs. Now to Chris Hale, the internet manager. I met with Chris after Trai and I had reviewed the vehicle to work out the nitty gritty of the deal. Chris, like all the other employees that I dealt with at Subaru Santa Monica, was amazingly helpful. He had no problems going over every and all possible scenario in terms of down-payments and rates until we found one that fit my budget. Once again, there were no tricks here. No hidden fees or changed rates. I really appreciated his honesty. Lastly I met with Arjahn Mamaghan, the finance manager at Subaru Santa Monica. I have to be honest, I have heard horror stories about what happens in the financing office. However, Arjahn was very accommodating and not pushy with the warranties and what not. He is a professional in every way. If you couldnt tell by now, I had an amazing experience at this dealership and will recommend them to everyone I know. Thank you Subaru Santa Monica!

I recently purchased a 2017 Forester 2.0XT Touring, in addition to leasing a 2016 Impreza . . . I usually have an aversion to dealership salespeople, but this particular experience surely put my apprehensions at bay. The salesperson (or Product Specialist) I dealt with was Vance Walden . . . from start to finish, Vance was professional, courteous and accommodating . . . Vance made the negotiation process easy . . . it helps to do your homework beforehand, i.e, researching the MSRP vs. Invoice price along with whatever options/accessories you want . . . that being said, there was minimal haggling, and whatever questions or concerns I had, Vance always responded promptly . . . everyone at Subaru Santa Monica that assisted in the purchasing process along with Vance made the experience more pleasant than I had anticipated . . .
