I drove over 400 miles to see a car they told me had one small ding. This thing was a wreck. The front end has been hit, the right rear window wouldnt roll up. The panels had big gaps in them with paint dripping down the cracks. Hmm repaint? They kept telling me to have the factory fix it under warranty, but the warranty on the window was different than what they were telling me. These guys give used car salesmen a bad name. STAY AWAY, buyer beware!!!!

Camran is a senior manager who handles the paperwork and finance. I took out a little finance for 12 months and he arranged this with no fuss. After I left the dealership I noticed a mistake on the paperwork and informed Camran. He replied immediately to resolve the genuine oversight and could not have been more helpful or courteous.... arranging for a new contract with no fuss! Be wary of the poor reviews on here: I am very critical of all things customer service and can say that this business is well run and prides itself on customer service. What a shame more satisfied customer cant be more motivated to give accurate feedback! I went to another dealership at first and was very disappointed because the truck I wanted was not there and they still had it listed that it was available online. On top of that, they kept trying to sell me another truck that I didn’t even want. I drove over an hour to get to this place and my experience was horrible. So before I braced myself to deal with the traffic heading back home, I called Santa Monica SUVs. The customer service was awesome! The salesman was very understanding and even called me to follow up. After I bought the truck from them, I told them that their customer service was one of the main reasons I wanted to buy from them. They never tried to sell me something I did not want and they were honest and fair. The vehicles on the lot were very well maintained (unlike the other place I went to) and they let me browse at my own pace. Recently, a couple stopped me to admire my truck and saw that I had Santa Monica SUVs paper plates. They said that they often drive by there and wondered if buying a truck from them was worth it, I said “yes!”

I was looking to purchase a used Land Rover. I called ahead to make sure the vehicle I wanted to look at it was still available and that a test drive would be possible. Upon inspection the vehicle had a brake light out, a bent window frame, a broken LCD screen, cracking window seals, rough engine, bad brakes, balding tires, and other problems. Yes, it is a used car, and I was hoping for some room for price negotiating. But the sale manager, Hamid, said the price was firm. When I asked to test drive the vehicle, I was only allowed to drive it for a few blocks. When asked if I could test the vehicles cruise control and handling on the freeway, I was told no because of insurance problems on the dealers side. I was reassured everything worked fine on the vehicle, but I wanted to see for myself. Since I was not able to, I asked for a guarantee in writing if the cruise control would fail. I was told a firm, "No!" So I asked for Hamid to drive us on the freeway to test the cruise control and handling at higher speeds. Again I was told "no." If they are not going to guarantee something in writing when they deny me from testing the vehicle myself, then why should I purchase a vehicle that may fail the second I drive off their lot? I would have appreciated more assistance and written assurance for the vehicle if they were not going to let me "fully" test drive the vehicle.

What can I say about this dealership? Theyve obviously arethe number one pre-owned land rover dealership for this many years for a reason, and I found out first hand why. I definitely got a five star treatment here. My salesman, andy was amazing. He went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. I have less than stellar credit and needed a car bad. I also couldnt afford to much down. For a few days Andy I went back and forth trying to find the perfect vehicle and fit for my finances. He totally came through for me. Im not sure why there are so many positive reviews because I had a terrible experience here. They wouldnt even let me test drive ANY of the cars. I just could sit in them. The salesman told me that I had to make and offer and come to an agreement of the price I was going to buy it for before I could even test drive it!!! Hmmm what?!?! Thats insane, the whole purpose of buying a car is seeing what it feels like to drive. Then they told me they couldnt let me drive because they were short staffed and I had to make an appointment. There was absolutely no one on the lot looking at cars and there was two people working. It was just excuse after excuse and I couldnt handle it anymore. I will not buy any cars from them! They were just terrible to work with. STAY AWAY!!

This was my first experience with any car dealerships. I had no idea what I was doing, but luckily the salesman who assisted me, andy, was helpful in every way possible. With a few roadblocks, I was still able to leave with a car of my own because andy did all he could to help me. "So Unhappy With Santa Monica Rover!"

I purchased a vehicle from Santa Monica Rover in November 2012. The day we came to sign the paper work and drive the car away I noticed that the back windshield was separating from the convertible top. I pointed this out right away (before the contract was even signed) and Fred told me that it would be repaired anytime I want to bring it back at no charge to me, of course. He stated it would only take a couple hours. I asked him about the other parts on the vehicle Specifically the brakes and tires. Fred told me that the mechanic checks over the entire vehicle and makes sure ALL parts are above 50%. I brought the car back the next night after work. I was told it was too late for them to fix the window. The following weekend I brought the car in. They informed me that they cant do it on the weekends. It had started to rain for about a week straight and the whole inside of the car was covered in water and mold had begun to grow on the inside of the convertible top. I have no where to park this vehicle out of the elements. Finally I was able to Schedule a time they would be available. I picked the car 8 hrs later per their request. When i arrived the glue was still wet and the window and convertible top were being held together by a thin piece of blue tape. The very next day the top had separated from the top AGAIN. I called Fred and informed him this had happened. He told me the only way it can be fixed is to buy a whole new top. The glass is factory heat sealed. WHAT!!!! Im so angry that they didnt tell me this from the beginning. I would have never bought a vehicle with a broken window and one that would cost over $1000 to replace!! Im still dealing with this very frustrating issue. I have called Santa Monica Rover so many times asking to speak to so many different people hoping that someone would fix this huge problem that they sold me. They always tell me to call back and ask for someone else. They promised it would be repaired by them and they have not done it. Gets better...... After only having the vehicle for 5 months I got a flat tire on the highway. AAA comes and informs me that my two front tires are so bad on the inside that the wire is showing through. These are specialty tires so they are a bit more expensive. $260. for 2 front tires. They checked my back tires and found that I have the same problem there as well. These were not sold to me at more than 50% working condition. Im very upset with this dealership and every opportunity I get I make sure to inform people of where NOT to buy a vehicle!!!!!!! All I wanted was for them to stay true to their word and fix my window!!!!

I found the car I wanted great price. I live out of state so had a limited time in Santa Monica. Viewed 8 cars over Labor day weekend diffrent dealerships and by far their approach won me over sure I could have went to a big lot dealer and got a "free" IPAD or something but you all know there is nothing free in life. First of all, dont be duped into believing this is an authorized Land Rover dealership. It isnt. I called to inquire about a specific vehicle advertised in the business ad, and was assured it was still there. After driving 85 miles, I learned that they had "sold" the vehicle. The person I spoke to initially at the dealership recalled my phone call and denied that he had said the vehicle was still available. He mysteriously disappeared and another person came out to speak with me. This person seemed polite and did his best to pacify me. I did look at the lots selection of vehicles and was not impressed. Most were suffering from body damage and shoddy attempts of repairs. Combine this with no parking, and you have a sub par buying environment.
