The psuedo-SUV formerly known as Cross Country gets a new name this year, to align itself more seamlessly with Volvo's revised SUV nomenclature. Now called the XC70, this all-wheel-drive, luxury crossover vehicle can be equipped with dark tinted windows, rain-sensing wipers and a new telematics system named On-Call Plus. Crystal Green is the new color for 2003.

not up to Volvo quality standards - 2003 Volvo XC70
By ahickman - July 10 - 10:00 amOur Volvo XC70 has been nothing but trouble -- nothing like the safety, reliability, quality image Volvo advertizes: - the air conditioner didnt work when it was delivered - a rock got stuck in the real wheel assembly, the rim cracked, and the tire deflated... not covered by warranty - the front brake pads wore out at 19k miles - interior parts keep falling off - the gas tank door fell off - everything electrical malfunctions

Underwhelmed - 2003 Volvo XC70
By John in Calgary - September 1 - 11:53 amI bought my 2003 Volvo XC 70 about 18 months ago and have been pretty underwhelmed. The car looks fine but is very underpowered for a $50,000 (Cdn) premium wagon. The handling is also terrible and the fit and finish leave something to be desired. It is comfortable but the other short comings are just too much. The new 2005 Outback is a much better vehicle with way better performance, handling and hauling capabilities - for $10,000 less (Cdn).

VERY Disappointed - 2003 Volvo XC70
By VERYdisappointed - July 18 - 3:26 amWe were thrilled to purchase our 03 Volvo XC70 but the excitement didnt last! One thing after another went wrong with the wagon... one year after buying it, the ignition went (sometimes the key would come out, other times it was stuck!)! The ball joints, brakes and rotars were shot. How many times do you have to replace a headlight bulb?!! The straw that broke the camels back: the angle bracket, which cost $2,500!! The car was constantly in the shop, and it was never inexpensive to repair!! We bought this as our family car... Volvo for life? We finally got rid of it and bought a Toyota Highlander Limited!!

NEVER AGAIN! - 2003 Volvo XC70
By NYArtist - May 4 - 2:00 amI just purchased a 2003 XC with 130,000 miles. I have loved my 93 volvo wagon but decided it was time for something new. The mechanic checked it out but the fist day I drove it, today, the car wouldnt start. Low Engine Response. I may need a new engine. This is a the mother of all car nightmares. Never again Volvo. Im done with you!
