Overview & Reviews
The Volvo V70 has been redesigned for 2001. Major changes include a new body structure, fresh styling, a revised interior and upgraded feature content. Safety figures prominently with the new V70 (as usual), but it is also more sporting than before, especially in T5 trim.
- Superb comfort, plenty of safety equipment, solid construction and amazing braking ability.
- High price, odd control placement.

Less Than Impressed - 2001 Volvo V70
By JJR - December 9 - 10:00 amReplaced a wonderful and trustworthy 91 745T Wagon, believing that Volvo wouldnt let me down, was I wrong. Volvo seems to have lost their touch with build quality. Front end noises (clunking) began at 5K, replaced ball joints, bushings, and control arms. Thermostat replaced at 10K, geartronic transmission has been problematic requiring various software patches, 8 light bulb replacements (including the rear license plate bulbs!), replaced two cargo covers that have shreaded under nominal use. The car is sluggish in hot humid weather, too much body roll in cornering for a "sport suspension", steering is ponderous and heavy.

Volvo XC Not after the warranty - 2001 Volvo V70
By Ginger - February 19 - 2:53 pmI bought this vehicle in its 3rd model year and it had all kinds of kinks. Under warranty all of these issues were free ($6000 worth), but note that I sold the vehicle as soon as the warranty was up. Loved driving it; impeccable customer service and reasonable service prices but am not willing to pay for unreasonable problems.//I have 2 labradors and an infant who go with me everywhere. This vehicle has the space of a midsized SUV and somehow handles the road like my tiny 325i BMW.//With the car seat installed behind the passenger seat there is little room left up front--in that configuration, my husband is 6 and refuses to ride in the passenger seat as his knees are up in the dashboard

A remarkable car! - 2001 Volvo V70
By Tom in Nor Cal - February 2 - 10:00 amHaving my XC for almost 18mos now, it has been remarkably reliable and (almost) trouble free. The dealership (Volvo of Pleasanton, CA) has a fantastic sales staff and a horrible service department. I have had to actually argue with the Service Manager on 2 different occasions. I would recommend buying your Volvo in Pleasanton but having it serviced elsewhere. A previous review complained of front suspension problems, I experienced some of the same. However, it was repaired and has been fine since. The traction abilities of this car are remarkable! Its almost as though its on rails. My only complaint is its mediocre acceleration.
