The Volvo V70 has been redesigned for 2001. Major changes include a new body structure, fresh styling, a revised interior and upgraded feature content. Safety figures prominently with the new V70 (as usual), but it is also more sporting than before, especially in T5 trim.

• Superb comfort, plenty of safety equipment, solid construction and amazing braking ability.

  the v70 2.4T is to soccer moms what patty lupone is to WB network programming: howlingly inappropriate. this is a bonafide sports sedan with extra greenhouse space where a trunk would be. The turbocharged inline 5 that Volvos been tweaking for years has reached its apex starting with the 2001 model year, and it is one of the smoothest, lag-free, and willing powerplants of its type Ive driven. Volvo also chose to place the V70 on solid footing in the corners, so handling is crisp and without excessive body roll or sag, and the ride is just dynamite, even on the potholed streets of Chicago.

  My vehicle has the standard five cyl. non turbo engine. I purchased the car new. I really like this car. It is stylish, its been reliable, and it gets good gas economy for its size. It runs very well on mid-grad gasoline, runs very smoothly on premium, and runs OK on regular (no pinging, but much less zip). The car is heavy, so acceleration is not the best but is adequate. Get the turbo if you want to take off in a hurry. My biggest complaint is the lack of Volvo dealers available to service the car. Also,there are some high tech features that become expensive to fix. Even small items are expensive as the parts sources are limited, making trim and accessories expensive.

  I am surprised at reading some negative reviews. My Volvo has been great without any of the problems mentioned. Its great on gas mileage, has a reliable engine and transmission and most importantly it is safe for my kids. We have made long trips and our Volvo has been a delight. Volvo forever!

  My reliable 240 was ready to be replaced, and I knew I wanted to stick with the brand. The XC looked good, my wife and I had a child on the way, and we were never interested in the whole SUV thing. (Do I even need to mention the "M" word?) It wasnt until I spoke to a friend who had a photograph of the next generation Volvo wagons that I put my purchase on hold. Talk about a dream come true. The T5 has it all - amazing looks, horsepower to spare, incredible handling and control, and it is perhaps the most comfortable car Ive ever had the pleasure of driving. Given the choice of a huge engine or XC, I went with the engine - and am very happy I did.

  Im a Gen-Xer and feel proud to drive what many may see as "your grandpas wagon". I am here to tell you it is not! This is simply the most comfortable and safe feeling car you can buy. It looks like a muscular black panther ready to strike. Although a bit sluggish off the line, it performs well past 1st gear. This is the first car I can see never getting tired of.

  My husband totaled our V70 last week. He hit an interstate wall at 70 mph after being clipped by a tractor trailer. He was rushed to the hospital but walked away five hours later with a bad seat belt bruise and a cut from his sunglasses. The car did not survive and Ive already bought a new Volvo to replace it. We bought this car at 5 yo and 65000 miles. Got a great deal, local family had all the service records. Besides being in the lightbulb of the month club, there was one issue with the throttle module that was replaced under warranty and never acted up again. We had the car for 12000 miles and only had to change the oil changed and replace two light bulbs. Man, do I miss that car!

  Love my car. It has had a good number of repairs over its lifetime. some attributed to high mileage and a lot of driving time. Some to what I believe to be poor design. The transmission has been our biggest issue. It has had issues with slipping in and out of gear. Overall I would buy another

  I really love this car. The seats are very comfortable. The car is so quiet, you can actually hear the car stereo, which is excellent. The car is very quick, it is like a Porsche wagon.

  Ive owned 8 Volvo, including an 1800ES. This XC70 is the BEST! Power, looks, utilitarian, and soooo comfortable. Best buy in cars I have ever made!
