Overview & Reviews
The Volvo V70 has been redesigned for 2001. Major changes include a new body structure, fresh styling, a revised interior and upgraded feature content. Safety figures prominently with the new V70 (as usual), but it is also more sporting than before, especially in T5 trim.
- Superb comfort, plenty of safety equipment, solid construction and amazing braking ability.
- High price, odd control placement.

No regrets! - 2001 Volvo V70
By italophile - September 15 - 2:00 amWe purchased this car used. It had 6K miles on it, and had been used as a rental. We bought it at significant savings, and because it had been used for part of the year, we were able to get the "extended warranty" for certified used cars. We have never had to invoke any warranty repair. The car has performed beautifully. The mileage is impressive for such a large car. Plenty of pick up to be had without the Turbo. Having previously driven a compact car, I can tell you I had no trouble adjusting to this one. It is easy to maneuver.

Work on it yourself!!! - 2001 Volvo V70
By Backyard Swede Mech - July 17 - 12:03 amThis is a good car that gets a bad rap. The tranny has a $19 fix from IPD to fix the hard into and out of 3rd shifts, and missing 3rd all together. The ETM should be replaced with one from xemodex in Canada. They have a mod that turns them into a lifetime unit. Although it is $550. Those two things will cover 90% of the complaints.

far better than a minivan - 2001 Volvo V70
By murraycat - June 11 - 10:00 amWe replaced a GM minivan of dubious quality with this. The turbo makes it feel more like a performance sedan. Roomy back seat and lots of cargo space. The free 6 yr/100k mi Volvo Certified Used Car warranty is terrific. The dealer recently replaces some working lightbulbs with new ones, for free (apperently lightbulbs have been an issue.) We plan to drive this car til it wears out, then go back for another.

I love this car! - 2001 Volvo V70
By Annie - March 31 - 6:00 pmPresently at 93,000 miles. Yes I have had the odd quirky issue, but the only major item was a radiator replacement. Transmission has been fine and baby runs quite well. I use my wagon to transport mulch, stone, plants in the summer and shes always been a jewel. I love this wagon and plan on keeping for a very very long time.

01 V70 T5 Geartronic/ Auto - 2001 Volvo V70
By cub740 - April 30 - 5:51 amBought my V70 T5 Automatic 2 years ago not knowing the bad rep the car has. No wonder the price is pretty low. In 2 years, i put in 50K miles with total support from Volvo specialist for a routine maintenance and to tackle to usual problem. It has been maintained with full synthetic at the specialist (NOT JIFFY LUBE) who knows this car in and out. Car has been served me well but it does cost a lot to maintain this car. But when you compare this wagon to a BMW / AUDI/ Mercedes wagon, then volvo still cheaper than those germans. Dont compare these cars with your HONDA or TOYOTA. Compare Euro to Euro not to the Japs. Your idea of cheap maintenance, get a honda/toyota. Problems below*

Love this Car! - 2001 Volvo V70
By Sarah D - April 24 - 10:53 amThis is my first experience not only with Volvo, but also a wagon. It has more than met my expectations in a car. I feel very safe putting my 2 chilren in it everyday. Comfortable and roomy throughout, but durable and sturdy. I dont think I will ever drive any thing other than a Volvo. I have driven the sedans also, and enjoyed those as well.
