Last Volvo - 2000 Volvo S70
By Jeff Barnes - December 22 - 4:50 pmThis has been the most expensive car Ive ever had to own. I wouldnt say its very reliable either Warranty service was fair at best. I dread the check engine light going on. Thats never less than a $1,000. I like the way the car looks and drives but I cant afford it or can I rely on it.

Love it Love it Love it - 1999 Volvo S70
By cpk_178 - December 22 - 10:00 amBought my T5 on ebay, Love the visual lines, lack of blind spots, overall performance is incredible. Slight hesitation in the turbo boost is forgotten once the apparent endless flow of HP kicks in! I prefer my 5 spd to auto trans as the control over the HP makes the car a real trip to drive. Volvo also makes the most comfortable seats of any manufacturer I have experienced. The ride is solid and my upgraded Michelins have resulted in a ride that would rival most new cars. I love my T5 (my wife will confirm) and will drive it for many years to come... Only improvements are flimsy cupholders and that my turbo eats gas at an alarming rate (thats the tradeoff)

Update - 1998 Volvo S70
By pandabear1 - December 2 - 1:17 amSince writing my review in May 2006, I have replaced the ABS module again, the rear shocks, and the O2 sensor. The AC and thermostat both stopped working in 2009. I replaced the power windows around the same time because one day, they just "fell" into the doors. In 2008, the key in the ignition wouldnt turn anymore and had to be replaced. In order to make sure Id just have 1 car key, all the door locks had to be replaced as well to make it uniform. I cant even describe all the sounds coming from behind the dash of "loose parts" jiggling around. Given that after 14 years, there are only 112k miles, this car has had a ton of issues.

Sorry, cant buy another S70 Volvo - 1998 Volvo S70
By J Florida - November 19 - 10:00 amVolvo has realy disappointed me on my first try. Bought it new and had it in the shop over 10 times in the first 6 months. Replaced the AC compressor twice within the first year and total 3 times now. New evaporator and many other AC parts once it was out of warranty. Replaced more lights than on any cars every owned for a combined total of 30 years. The list of problems goes on and on. Dealer did what they could to satisfy me, just a poorly engineered and manufactured car! Too bad because it drive well when its not in the shop.

Boring But Reliable - 2000 Volvo S70
By GBW - November 12 - 2:00 amSafe. Solid. Boring. Electrical issues always. Fast enough. Real good in snow. Great local dealer. Expensive to buy. Cheap to own. Will look at Audi A4 in June, 2003. No interest in Volvos new designs.

Great Car - Until 170,000 miles - 1999 Volvo S70
By Bill - October 13 - 11:20 pmI purchased this car used in 2000 with about 11,000 miles. It was absolutely perfect until about 170,000 when the Electronic Throttle Module failed. Before buying any used Volvo from this time period I would thoroughly research the ETM and the problems its caused. Its a very expensive part, and the replacement is just as likely to fail as the original. And since replacing mine, Ive had several other problems with it and related parts. Ive completely lost confidence in the car. Having said that, it was a great car for 10 years.

Little red beauty - 1998 Volvo S70
By hampton3133 - September 10 - 2:19 amJust bought this beautiful red S70 Sedan, pristine exterior, drives with a nice low growly hum, 142K miles, black leather seats. Im hoping my first Volvo will get last me until my daughter makes it through college. The dealership was amazing. I also purchased a 100Kmile or 5 year powertrain warranty. Amazed the car comes with free roadside assistance. So we will see....

They dont make em like this anymore! - 2000 Volvo S70
By Anonymous - September 6 - 10:00 amIve had my 2000 Volvo S70 GLT SE Turbo for 8 years (bought it used at auction) and its going strong. It has 105K miles and no sign of slowing down. As this car ages, little things need fixing. But the overall build and reliability are fantastic. I stick to the suggested maintenance schedule and am told I can get 250K miles out of it. I love the turbos torque as much as the top end smoothness. Ive never owned a car this long and its because I simply dont get bored driving it. Its not much to look at, but when youre sitting on the inside who cares. Bottom Line: FUN to drive and it never breaks down. Wish the S80 were a suitable alternative for when I finally trade it in.
