  • Awesome car!!! - 1998 Volvo S70

I bought this Volvo for $6500 with 131,000 miles. Im a college student and needed a vehicle that will get from point A to point B. This car is amazing! Nobody believes it has as many miles as it does. The acceleration is unreal as is the fuel economy. ON the highway I can get 31mpg! Reliablity, well Ive only put 1000 miles on it and it runs like a rock. Very comfortable and overall great vehicle.

  • Best car I have owned.... - 1998 Volvo S70

and I have had many! I usually sell my daily drivers within a couple of years because I get bored with them. Not this S70 GLT. This ones a keeper. I think that says it all. I have a young teenager approching driving age and this car will be the one I will let him drive. Safe, reliable, and responsive just to mention a few things. Mine is red with creame and wood trim. Rear spoiler really adds to the look. Volvo made this model until 2000 and added all wheel drive in 99. I just might add one of them for my winter car and park my 98 for the winter just to keep it prestine!!

  • S70 Great Car - 1998 Volvo S70

Volvos S70 has provided me with excellent service. Maintaining the car according to mfrs suggestions will result in many trouble free miles of driving. The only negative was the frequency of bulbs burning out. Volvo corrected the problem but only after a couple of years of complaints. Everthing else has been trouble free. Great highway car.

  • Poor quality for a Volvo - 1998 Volvo S70

This car has been a nightmare to maintain. Within the first few years I purchased it, I brought it back to the dealer every 2-3 months. Within 2 wks of driving it off the lot, I had multiple light bulbs on the panel, spark plugs, and AC components replaced. In the 8 yrs Ive owned it, Ive replaced the battery 4x, alternator 2x, headlights 2x, latch for hood, entire air conditioning system, front axels, shocks, power steering component, ABS sensor...all replaced. I go through tires like crazy, had to get the gas gauge fixed several times, the vinyl has bubbled off the doors, coating on buttons started peeling within months of owning it, all buttons have nail marks on them.

  • Love my Volvo - 1998 Volvo S70

I bought the car because of Volvos reputation for safety. I ordered stick shift to get on the highway faster. Little did I know that it would perform so well and be so much fun to drive. I have maintained it with the dealer in Westport who has been nothing short of exceptional. The only recurrent problem I ever had was with the turn indicators. This was resolved through the replacement of a switch as part of a recall. At 50,000 miles it still drives like new. The only down side is that it has taken away the pleasure of getting to buy a new car after 4 years.

Purchased the car because of a new baby and our desire to drive a "safe" car. Turns out its also fun to drive and quite comfortable. I wish it had fewer electrical problems (headlights and taillights need to be replaced with some frequency) and was a little quieter when cruising on the freeway.

  • Most comfortable car! - 1998 Volvo S70

I have over 200K miles on my Volvo S70. Original engine and tranny. Recently had to replace ball joint and struts. No biggie since that is all have had to put in it in the last year. I put synthetic oil in mine. I noticed that I get a random black film on the inside of my sunroof. -Not sure why. Door panel pleather came away from the door and needs to be re- glued. It did this on all 4 doors. My mirror control buttons are melty and sticky! Yuck! My black leather has held up well in the CA sun. I condition it regularly and put up sun shades. Most comfortable seats I have ever sat in. I have driven it to Seattle and back to Sacramento 6 times in less than a year. Great car for weekend get aways

  • Swedish delight, a real drivers car - 1998 Volvo S70

Have owned Volvos and Saabs for 25 years, this is one of the best. Totally dependable, starts at 25 below (we live in Minnesota) turbo 5 cylinder is fast and fun, 26 mpg all day at 75-80 with regular, best seats in the industry, great sound system, still as tight as the day we bought it. Got 83000 on it, cant get rid of it because I cant find anything as good that doesnt cost me 40 thousand. Have to replace a few bulbs, big deal. The ABS computer went out at 75000, a bit expensive. Station wagon version of this car saved my life in a collision 10 years ago, confident this one would today.

  • Volvo has lost a customer! - 1998 Volvo S70

When took delivery, one door wouldnt open because the door lock was broken. Since then, the car has had numerous headlight replacements; the headlight on/off switch has failed; the ashtray retaining clip broke (neither of us are smokers and dont use the ashtray); the heating coil cracked, spilling coolant inside the car; all of the door gaskets have been removed, reinstalled, and finally glued in; the taillight assembly has been repaired twice and replaced; the cruise control has failed; the retaining clips for the under dash trim panel have broken; the steering column trim clips have broken and separated; and the air conditioner has failed.
