This Year's Model Updates:

Volvo will offer the C70 Coupe in just one trim level, and the contents of last year's SE model will come with it, including the unique sport grille, 17-inch wheels and tires, power sunroof, leather upholstery, trip computer, auto-dimming rearview mirror and special dash inlays. New standard features for all C70s include Volvo's stability and traction control system (STC), heated front seats and an emergency trunk release. Convertibles also get 17-spoke alloy wheels and ride on Z-rated 205/55R16 Pirelli tires. Genuine wood dash trim replaces the "wood effect" trim in the optional Touring Package for the C70 LPT convertible. Ash Gold is now an exterior color choice, while Turquoise Metallic and Venetian Red Metallic have been discontinued.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, plenty of safety and comfort features, smooth ride, turbocharged engines.

  • sorry i bought it - 2002 Volvo C70

I was swayed by the looks when I bought this car. It has been in the show more than a dozen times in one year. The windows rattle, the top flaps in the wind, the turning radius is almost unsafe, and twice my brakes have malfunctioned and needed major repair - with only 25K mileage. Good looking is the only good thing I can say about his car.

  • Never Again - 2002 Volvo C70

Like everyone says, its fun to drive. Thats true. My wifes car and its been the biggest pain to own. We tell our friends that when you look at the car you do not see a single original part, its all been replaced under warranty. No kidding our stack of maintenance receipts looks like a magazine, a thick one. One day while driving I was passenger, the dash just snapped in half. Problem after problem. As I write, it is in the shop for a new fan and fan assembly which is on back order because they ran out. Symptom was smoke coming out of it, never a good symptom. Engine block is the only original under the hood. Its only safe because it rarely runs. But she loves it.

  • Worst Car Ever Owned - 2002 Volvo C70

I never knew that a car could be in the shop more than you drive it - but I found one !! 21 times in the 1st 2 years - the sad part is that Volvo refused to take it back - it would have been in their best interest - they wouldnt be getting reviews like this one. If anything could go wrong - it did !! But we have low milage and the lease is almost over. They agreed that they were having a lot of electrical problems with that model - tops not working, lights not working, windows not working - thats why they have discontinued this model - so they say. Just bought a BMW - hopes it better !!

  • Its a lemon - 2002 Volvo C70

I bought my 2002 C70 used in 2009. It ran great for about 6 months & then had a host of problems that caused multiple trips to the shop, including one that lasted 3 months. The car doesnt always start. Turning the key over and trying again sometimes works, but Volvo told me that trick as they cant fix it. The transmission slips & it has gotten progressively worse to the point that the car is only reliable for trips under 15 min. Volvo cant diagnose that problem either & suggested changing the trans, but will not guarantee that its the fix. The rear windshield has dropped & is suspended by the headliner. I need an auto upholstery shop to stitch it back in as the glue wont hold.
