Overview & Reviews
The Touareg's standard V6 engine goes from 220 hp to 240 hp. The optional navigation system will change from CD-based to DVD-based later in the model year. The formerly standard tire-pressure monitoring system is now optional, and satellite radio is available across the board. A self-dimming rearview mirror debuts this year, along with newly styled 18-inch alloy wheels.
- Upscale interior, polished road manners, true off-road capability, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
- Lousy fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

Brilliant SUV - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Henry20 - January 1 - 12:46 pmMy parents bought me a VW Touareg as a welcome home gift from College this May. I was excited but at the same time apprehensive because I have heard/read that this SUV has many problems et al. I got it and me and my buddies went up to New Hampshire and it was the best automobile I have ever driven in my life(last car was a 2002 330i)! I had to take it in for a glitch in the airbag system and for a temperature gauge malfunction but have been tremendously satisfied with it! Superb road handling on wet, grueling, everything-nature-throws-at-you New Hampshire backroads and on the highways. I now have 12,500 miles on my Touareg, offroading and highway/city. Definately buy if you have the chance!

One of the Best SUVs Available - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Siegfried Grimm - December 13 - 4:03 pmThe Volkswagen Touareg may not be the fastest in its class, it does not get the best fuel economy, but it is well built and reliable. Those are important features to me.

The best SUV Ive ever driven!! - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Ted - August 25 - 11:40 amThis is hands down the best SUV I have ever driven. I considered 8 others and the Touareg is the best SUV for the money. Its not a "soccer mom" car. Its an SUV thats fun to drive, has lots of options and drives like a car. I recommend this vehicle if you like quality and performance.

great car - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By rich fidler - April 21 - 7:33 amvery heavy, smooth, safe car. Very solid german feel, almost all high end options on most other cars are standard on Touareg. Tires are expensive to change if you get the 19s like I have but are very reasonable as 17 or 18s. I have 2 sets of tires, great in the snow with the all seasons on 17s in 18" snow in Tahoe. NO problems. Mechanically very good, poor fuel economy but its a V8 ! 14 in the city, 19 on the hwy. I get oil changes for $75 at a VW dealer. Had a headlight bulb blow, and an airbag under warranty replaced in over 2 yrs. Highly recommend.

Superb Auto - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By DanScar - January 27 - 8:06 amOverall excellent performing vehicle. Turns beautifully/confidently even on wet roads. Awesome sound system, cool V8 growl when you press it. We knew about the mileage before we bought but we are not daily commuters. After six months we are still impressed, and there are probably many functions in the computer that we have not discovered yet, like the speed warning my salesman just told me about.

Best SUV on the market - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By STALZZ - January 19 - 8:10 pmGreat fuel (diesel) mileage. Superior comfort ride. No air whistle noise doing 110 mph from Orlando to Miami. Handles the off road conditions very well. Towing 7600 lbs and it doesnt lose power. Excellent breaking system. And a superior sound system. Great paint job and very comfortable cockpit. The interior dash lights always get noticed. It lights up like a cockpit.

Wow, I wasnt expecting this! - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By KevinT - December 30 - 3:23 amTrading up from a mini-minivan (Mazda MPV) I cant stop having so much fun. Although Ive got the V6 it still performs well. From the line its not quite a Corvette, but Ive left some V8s wondering if the V6 badge was a mistake. The Touareg looks like a million bucks as well and is treated to a weekly car wash in all weather. To see so many people pointing, and even though I cant read lips saying..."oh, look theres that new Touareg!" is a treat. This baby hugs the asphalt as if its attached! Try for the V8, but the V6 is still just as fun and well enough equipted to keep your adrenaline going!
