The five-passenger Touareg is an all-new midsize SUV from Volkswagen. Designed to provide both excellent handling on pavement and a high level of off-road ability, the Touareg, despite its unibody design, is a real SUV, not a soft-roader.   Great vehicle, Ive even gotten my staunch BMW neighbor to trade his precious X5. Even though its not classified as a "Luxury" SUV, it made me trade my RX330 for it. It may be the price of most Lux. SUVs but it came with FAR more gadgets and gizmos than my RX, and was just about the same price tag. Its fun to drive, and reasonably peppy for a V6. My expirince was great, from the test drive, to the sign & drive. I would have liked a V8, but after a test drive, I didnt think the V8 was worth the extra cash. Besides I got a loaded V6 for what would have been the price of a base V8. I love it, Its rugged when you want to be, and refined when you have to be.

  So far none of the negative criticisms can be found with this vehicle. It meets all expectations. Purchased it as a pre-owned (or pre-loved as they say) and it has had only one visit back to the dealer for warranty work. The rest of its service has been done by and will be done by, a reputable private mechanic. I have had 6 Jettas, 2 Passats and a GTI. We are VW people and realize no car is infallible. Take care of it and it will return the favor. Most people are too reliant on dealers for service and that is not what dealers are known for despite their claims.

  There is more to this vehicle than it first seems. I have actually taken it offroad on the old Barlow Trail over Mt. Hood! If not for the support by the folks at the dealer, the little niggley things would drive you crazy, things like missing manuals, wrong size wheel center medallions, and a broken carbon canister for the emissions control system. None the less this is the best, the most fun, the most comfortable vehicle I have ever owned.

  we bought in 10/03...love it. never had an SUV previously because felt too much like a truck. very comfortable, great ride.

  i ve compared this car to MDX, X5, RX 330, GX 470, FX 45 and XC 90. There was one single category where vw was underperforming . As you expected it is 14-18 mpg. In any other aspect Touareg is equal or better than the best of above cars. i,m thankful to folks from vw for eliminatig 99% of reasons not to have an suv

  Well, i was in the market for a new SUV and i looked at the following... BMW X5, Infiniti FX45, Lexus RX330 and VW Touareg V8. Oh my God, there is no comparisson.... After driving a V8 Touareg, that was it.. Sign the paper and purchased the car. X5, FX45 and RX330 watch out, there is new cat in town. Jeff V8, Nav, Xenon, Convinence Package

  Great vechicle to drive. Ive gotten at least a dozen compliments from people on the road. Powerful V8 and very responive on corners. Cant wait for the snow out here on the Front Range.

  This SUVW is tremendous. I have had nothing but enjoyment since the day I brought it home. Rides like a sedan in comfort mode and like a sporst car in sport mode. If you dont take a hard look at the VW you are selling yourself short.

  THIS IS PURE PEFECTION AT ITS BEST. VW DEFINATELY HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH THIS ONE. THERE IS NOT ANOTHER SUV OUT THERE THAT IS THIS FUN TO DRIVE AND CAPABLE OF GOING OFF ROAD AS THIS. THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST SUV EVER BUILT!!!
