Overview & Reviews
The five-passenger Touareg is an all-new midsize SUV from Volkswagen. Designed to provide both excellent handling on pavement and a high level of off-road ability, the Touareg, despite its unibody design, is a real SUV, not a soft-roader. Alongside that, buyers can look forward to beautifully furnished cabins equipped with plenty of standard convenience and safety features.
- Upscale interior, polished road manners, amazingly adept off-road, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
- Poor fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

The Best Thing I Have Ever Driven! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By Shea - July 14 - 11:43 pmI have only had my Touareg for a little over a week but I am completely in love. The cabin is beautifully and conveniently lit. It has radio controls on the steering wheel and the dash is laid out so that all info that you need is literally under your nose. This SUV even has a mini flashlight in the console! It handles like a dream and takes corners with full control. The only suggestion I would have would be to add power seats and give it better gas mileage. Other than that, you simply have to drive a Touareg to believe it. You will be hooked like me!

Toureg - You Gotta See This! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By David Hudson - June 19 - 2:00 amIve had the Toureg for about a month now. What a great SUV!!! We originally were going to purchase a Land Rover Discovery, but found the Toureg to be packed with great features in one well laid-out package.

VWs best yet! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By J Bombay - June 2 - 10:00 amWhat a joy to drive. The optional navigation system was very useful on out-of-town drives. The only drawback; the 19" sport wheels will turn your Touareg into a hockey puck on winter roads. The 18 wheels with appropriate M&S tires were perfect for Chicago winters. Next for me in 2005? The V10 diesel!

monster fun - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By amnesia - April 1 - 10:00 amHandles like a sedan, precise steering, and great power. Drives better than an X5 - love the 4-wheel drive and diff locks; most luxurious interior for the buck. Too much steering wheel real estate taken up by 4 cruise control buttons that are rarely used. Owners manual is poor: some things are at odds with reality and the index is about as useful as LA freeway signs. Few accessories available yet.

A great vehicle for detail reps. - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By 54implant - March 19 - 2:00 amI am truely enjoying my Touareg. 17 MPG is what I am currently receiving, and I think that that may increase over time. I purchased the basic V6 model without any extras, and for a work vehicle, I can say that it is more than I expected. I am amazed about how many other drivers in Houston, are stopping to look at the vehicle. If VW would advertise more, I think that you would see additional Touaregs on the road.
