Overview & Reviews
The five-passenger Touareg is an all-new midsize SUV from Volkswagen. Designed to provide both excellent handling on pavement and a high level of off-road ability, the Touareg, despite its unibody design, is a real SUV, not a soft-roader. Alongside that, buyers can look forward to beautifully furnished cabins equipped with plenty of standard convenience and safety features.
- Upscale interior, polished road manners, amazingly adept off-road, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
- Poor fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

Excellent SUV! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By knoel - October 31 - 10:00 amWeve had our V6 Touareg for about a month now and absolutely love it! Its our first VW vehicle and selected after carefully looking at the Lexus GX470. For $10K less and a better rating by Car and Driver it was an easy decision. Actually like the exterior better than the sister car the Cayenne. Excellent experience with the Sales and Service Team at Duke Golds Speedway VW in Indy!

Very Pleased Indeed - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By jkingston - October 8 - 10:00 amThis is an extraordinary SUV. I prize its high speed highway manners. Close your eyes and you can imagine that it is a 7 series BMW sedan. High speeds, cross winds phase it not at all. The engine transmission combination is a winner! Very silky and satisfying. I compared it to the Volvo XC90, MDX and Cayenne S. Actually this one was the winner for long distance driving. Yes the Cayenne has an edge if you want to toss it around, but it is less comfortable for long trips. We had a couple of minor warning light glitches that the dealer solved at once.

Great Car - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By Albino - September 1 - 10:00 amI am speechless, I never thought that VW would make a car that would be neck to neck with BMW X5s and Mercedes MLs.

Touareg tidbits - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By sanman - August 13 - 10:00 amJust bought vehicle, so no long term experience yet. Very nice ride quality and exceptional handling. Handles turns and road curves as much sport-car- like as a SUV based vehicle could. If fun factor, smooth drive and handling are impotant to you; with good comfort, sportyness at a competitive price then look at this product. We also own an Acura MDX and both are exceptional i would favor the VW.

Best SUV for the price, Major Power - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By JD - August 9 - 6:06 pmI bought this vehicle new almost off the line pretty much base package, no nav. Its a remarkable SUV with amazing power capability and the safest thing you can own. I have driven this car across the country four times, up and down the coast and mountains alike, and there is nothing that handles extreme weather, harsh conditions, or long rides in any category better. I love this car despite recalls (free fixes) and other issues that occur on any luxury car at a cost. I wish people appreciated the real capability and power this SUV has, its not an around town vehicle, use it, love it, or leave it.

Best SUV out there............. - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By jeff Smith - July 26 - 2:00 ami have driven most of the midsize suvs and this vehicle is bar none I would recommend it to everyone. I fish in the Everglades of Florida alot and I thought I would have a problem with the swamps I drive through. It goes places my jeep Wrangler never would. Still it has the look of a luxury suv I can go play in the mud and still go to dinner that evening (after a bath).

Good to go - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By salut - July 26 - 2:00 amPerfect so far. Loaded with just about every option. Great in snow and late winter roads in the northeast. I like the fact that you can disable many of the (over the top) features in the interior. Mileage is not great but no worse than the Suburban it replaced. Throttle and brakes are a little touchy, though the brakes work very well. Arrived with front end out of allignment. Waited forever to get a car with OnStar.
