Overview & Reviews
The five-passenger Touareg is an all-new midsize SUV from Volkswagen. Designed to provide both excellent handling on pavement and a high level of off-road ability, the Touareg, despite its unibody design, is a real SUV, not a soft-roader. Alongside that, buyers can look forward to beautifully furnished cabins equipped with plenty of standard convenience and safety features.
- Upscale interior, polished road manners, amazingly adept off-road, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
- Poor fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

Drivers Wanted - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By SyouV - May 21 - 10:00 amAll VWs are cars for Drivers. Touareg is no exception. One needs a Driving skill and focus to appreciate this car. The V8 is so powerful that a gentle but precise push on gas in needed to roll it from stop (the so- called "hesitation" problem). The ride is so quiet that air is heard flowing off vents. And one needs to buckle up before switching the ignition and fix tire pressure between weather seasons. These pretty much cover for the "lemon" issues. Then just Drive! This Car is amazing to Drive!

More than expected for the money - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By floridasutherner - May 15 - 10:00 amWith all of the options that come with the Suv, I couldnt compare the price with all that I have on the Tourage verses with the BMW, Lexus & Volvo. Very Roomy in the front and backseat. Wish that it had a 3rd row option and better gas mileage, A in dash disk player would be nice as well! The interior and the drive of this SUV feels as if you had paid for a top dollar SUV and in fact, I didnt! Very eye catchy and I get alot of compliments!

My Toureg - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By ezachary - April 9 - 10:00 amPerfect vehicle for selling real estate in the mountains. Customers are comfortable and love it. Its a joy to drive. I chose the V6 even though the reviews said it would be sluggish. I havent found it to be sluggish at all. Has all the pick up and go that I need.

A less expensive Cayenne - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By iaswell - March 14 - 10:00 amThe Touareg rides like a dream, especially with the air suspension. Capable of going off-road, but built to comfortably navigate the concrete jungle of the real world. Adequate pick-up with smaller engine. Gas mileage is slightly better than advertised (still not great). The driving experience is fantastic! Fahrfenugen on and off road. The interior is extremely well designed. From the rear window shades to the driver and passenger visors - motoring concerns have been carefully examined and re-examined.

A Joy To Drive - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By maddog76 - February 19 - 10:00 amI was initially hesitant to purchase a first year model, but I am very, very happy with this vehicle. VW has done an outstanding job with their first SUV. It is very well-built -- solid -- very comfortable to drive, and handles expceptionally well for a rather heavy mid-size. Negatives: In (D)rive, the trans shifting is a bit ragged at low speeds and slow acceleration; I drive in TripTronic or sport mode most of the time with no problem. (VW has already addressed the shifting issue with a softare upgrade that Ill have installed soon.)

What a truck - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By nhlgirl1 - January 18 - 2:00 amA lot of truck for the price. My friend has the Porche model, and when I compared the two, my truck looked exactly the same with more features and a $30,000 lower price tag. This truck has everything you could want and more.

BEST SUV ON THE ROAD! LOVE IT! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
By J Navarro - January 18 - 2:00 amI brought my 2001.5 Passat in for a minor repair and left with the Touareg! Though I miss my Passat, the Touareg was well worth the trade. Were the 1st in our town to have one, & we still only see another Touareg on the road every now and then- but I know this best kept secret will be out soon and others will realize what theyre missing! You get a lot of curious and approving stares in this car!
