Overview & Reviews
The Touareg's standard V6 engine goes from 220 hp to 240 hp. The optional navigation system will change from CD-based to DVD-based later in the model year. The formerly standard tire-pressure monitoring system is now optional, and satellite radio is available across the board. A self-dimming rearview mirror debuts this year, along with newly styled 18-inch alloy wheels.
- Upscale interior, polished road manners, true off-road capability, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
- Lousy fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

VW Hits a Homerun - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Jaime Mendez - August 16 - 8:53 amNot having owned an SUV before, I didnt know what to expect. Well, Volkswagen surpassed my expectations. This vehicle is a charmer inside and out. Everything about it feels sturdy, from the seats to the leather covered steering wheel. It has a smooth and quiet ride with very good visibility. This vehicle is a good value for your money.

BEAUTIFUL - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By MYMAL - July 19 - 10:00 amThis vehicle is absolutely beautiful all around. unique design in and out, with a gorgeous interior (have it in the Teak color & blk exterior, V8). Very quiet drive for an suv, amazing with the air suspension, feels like a sports car in the handling, has options galore included with the V8 model. I love it and have not had any problems at all. Would definitely appreciate better fuel economy, an auto-trunk open and close (b/c its heavy) but otherwise very pleased with the VW Touareg!

Great all around SUV - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Dustin123 - July 19 - 10:00 amA great all around SUV that fits our needs. We can load up the family and dog wih plenty of room. We can also put down the seats and load up on construction material from the local home center. Monster power from the V8 engine. Excellent performance on the road and off-road.

Quality, Comfort and Looks - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By aztrader - July 19 - 10:00 amI spent weeks going over Carlike SUVs and was debating between the VW, Volvo or Acura. The Volvo was too much money with the V-6 engine, but a very nice ride, the Acura had the power, but the interior felt cheap, but the VW, had the luxurious interior and loads of power with the V-8. My only complaint is the gas mileage. Very fun to drive.

Great SUV needs refinement - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Giminetti - July 19 - 10:00 amA great all around performer. Good looks still turn heads, Impressive towing capacity, European sedan like ride, handling, and sound dampening. After looking for a solid vehicle that could tow my boat and be an every day driver, I couldnt find anything that came close.

This Truck is Awesome! - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Joseph - June 10 - 10:46 pmIve had my Volkswagen Touareg for about a year now and I love it! Before I purchased it, I was thinking about the Lexus RX 330. But, then when I look at it, Lexus RX was not macho enough and the T-Reg was more "manly" looking. I love it, its the best SUV out there for the money.

Highway to mountains - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By clemmy - June 7 - 10:00 amI spent months looking for the perfect blend of "go any where ability, performance handling and speed, towing capacity (business expense), front leg room, and all with a luxury interior. No other vehicle comes close in the price range. The Touareg is every bit the vehicle as the Cheyene S for about $17,000 less. Cant wait to trade mine in for the V10 Diesel.

Very Satisfied - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By VWTV8 - May 31 - 7:13 pmHave owned many different makes and models including several sports cars, The VW Touareg ranks right at the top for fun, comfortable, capable transportation. It has proven to be perfect mechanically requiring nothing other than routine maintenance and 3 :( sets of high performance 19" tires. This is a heavy, powerful vehicle that is a little rough on the sticky OEM tires. Highly recommend - you will not be disappointed. 17.8 MPG

Wont buy another VW - 2005 Volkswagen Touareg
By Erica - April 17 - 1:33 pmI was initially really excited about my Touareg, but became suspicious after a road trip that included lots of error messages. When I brought it to the VW dealership to have it checked out, they were not willing to take the time to find out what was going on and told me to come back if it happened again. After a short year and a half we had to put $3000 into it for new tires, breaks, rotors, etc. None of which were included in the warranty although it was leased, I should have known, but was disappointed anyway. The lights go out while driving periodically for no apparent reason. The lining on the door handles are also peeling. Fuel economy is poor, but we knew that. The CD player is poor.
