This Year's Model Updates:

The five-passenger Touareg is an all-new midsize SUV from Volkswagen. Designed to provide both excellent handling on pavement and a high level of off-road ability, the Touareg, despite its unibody design, is a real SUV, not a soft-roader. Alongside that, buyers can look forward to beautifully furnished cabins equipped with plenty of standard convenience and safety features.

Pros:
  • Upscale interior, polished road manners, amazingly adept off-road, solid construction, lengthy standard equipment list.
Cons:
  • Poor fuel economy, not a lot of room in the backseat, no in-dash CD changer.

Vin # 2,8xx. put over 5,000 miles on loaner vehicles while waiting for parts/repair. VWoA doesnt seem to care about customer satisfaction. Takes 3 seperate visits to the service department for 10,000 mile service & 4 other "electrical" complaints. Service department must me more concerned about billable warranty hours that customer satisfaction.

My Touareg has been in shop more than any other vehicle I have ever owned. Everything has gone wrong with it at some point or another, Engine-problems, missfirings, water leakage problems, and everything else that could go bad has. The biggest problem is continued water leak problems, despite multiple efforts to fix. What ever you don dont park it outside, unless you want a swamp inside. Dealers dont even know how to fix them in some cases. Dont ever own one out of warranty! Buyer beware.

  • Do Not Buy A Touareg - Ever - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

This is the most poorly build cars I have ever bought. It spends most of its time in the VW repair shop where most of the mechanics know little about how to make the necessary repairs. Its been towed numerous times due to electrical issues and recently had its 4th battery installed. I had new front brakes put on at 50K which cost $1,000, replaced the original tires at 30K, have a back seat that locks, have a $700 issue with the tire pressure system, have another fault light on related to the air suspension, have a xenon headlight that is problematic. My list of issue is never ending. Please dont waste your money on a Touareg. Ill never buy another VW. The Touareg is a LEMON.

  • Dont Buy a Touareg! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

This car has been nothing but trouble. It is entirely too sensitive and there is a red or yellow warning light on constantly whether it be for the tires, temperature gauge, EPS system, etc... For the money you should expect and get a lot better quality than VW offers in the Touareg. I feel like I own a Hyundai! The Touareg is the WORST vehicle that Ive ever owned. Im on my way to the dealer again. Im there about every other month getting something fixed. What an inconvenience! I cant wait for this lease to be over!

this car has given us so many headaches and theres not enough tylenol or advil to go around! we take care of our vehicles religously and do not drive them into the ground. within 13 months the following: rear drive shaft @ $2000 - yep, i said TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!! this has 2 fuel pumps - so if the primary goes, so does the secondary! Primary @ $900; and the secondary @ $500 = $1300 - it poses itself as an alternator problem, but nope - it gets more expensive because its the fuel pumps! as for the battery - yes, primary and secondary too! and theyre an ass to get to..so good luck. youd probably save yourself a few hundred if you did this yourself

  • Do not buy! - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

This was hands down the WORST vehicle I have ever owned. I have driven lots of cars and SUVs, and this one took the cake in bad performance. Its beautiful, especially when you are standing beside it waiting on Roadside Assit because its DEAD! After 5 alignments in 5 months, being completely dead/towed twice, I had enough. Dont get me started on all the electrical failures, warnings, Service calls, recalls and problems I endured in the 12 LONG months I drove this horrible vehicle. And VWoA is the WORST co. on earth, not caring that they are selling a useless vehicle to unsuspecting people. They do not respond to complaints, and have no intentions of standing behind their horrible vehicle.

  • Sorry I bought a Toureag - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

This vehicle has caused numerous problems for me. The technology is constantly misinforming me of things. For instance, the tire pressure monitoring system tells me my front driver side tire is flat. A big exclamation point is constanly on my screen. The tire has been checked and is perfectly normal. My advice is....give Volkswagen a few more years to perfect the gliches in this vehicle before you buy one.

  • Poor Choice - 2004 Volkswagen Touareg

After years of driving a Toyota Land Cruiser I opted for something different. Given the generally glowing reviews of this vehicle, I decided to try my first VW. Bad decision. The LC performed above expectations while this vehicle typically disappointed. Ive sold this vehicle after four months & bought a new LC (actually a Lexus LX470).
