Former Jeep owner - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By Mike - April 19 - 3:23 pmTotally shocked by the wicked gas mileage (45 hwy)! No lie! Almost two 20s to fill it for 4 days, unlike former jeep ($100) for four days! Rides like a Go-Kart! Sweet! Currently installing an aircraft mixture knob to lean it for more gas mileage. Havent calculated yet. Rat rod tires and a shrunken head foe a shifter. I love this car. I have 17000 miles and had no reliability problems.

Really happy with this car - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By AK - March 30 - 12:10 amIm only averaging 42 mpg, but thats probably because I havent been driving to maximize mpg - this car is very zippy, and I cant resist! Its also very maneuverable, with an incredibly tight turning radius. Its also darn cute, like a cross between a VW Beetle and a Camry. Complaint: the transition from park to 1st gear is very jerky (and means I stall out a lot if Im wearing other than my normal sneakers). I highly recommend the manual transmission with power package and ABS brakes, giving you maximum control over the car. (That way you also get a radio.) This car will last ten years no problem, and will carry me in style all the way.

Great little car. - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By wolfgang - March 3 - 8:10 amI decided to go with a Yaris after driving a Camaro for 13 years. I love this car! It is peppy enough and sticks to the curves just fine. I am also 62" and a large guy and I have plenty of room, in fact this car has more room than my Camaro. The back seat also has plenty of room for me to sit comfortably. I am also averaging 37 MPG and that is a mix of city and highway driving. I would highly recommend this car. Go out and get on the Yaris bandwagon!

Great little car - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By kernal - February 21 - 12:50 pmI have a 2007 Camry XLE V6 which I use for long trips. I wanted a small economical new car with good mileage to drive around locally. I compared the Chev Aveo, the Smart car and a small Kia. I felt the Toyota Yaris would meet my needs and I have not been disappointed. The mpg is very good above advertised. The car is comfortable, fun and easy to drive. For a small 2 door hatchback it has a surprising amount interior room. With the rear 60-40 rear seat down it has a great cargo space in the back. I added a few options for comfort and appearance. As with any small car it sways on the highway in high crosswinds. Overall I am very pleased with this car. It does cost a little more than similar.

NC to PA once a month - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By Andrea M - February 7 - 4:40 pmMy husband and I were looking for a car that got good gas mileage because we travel from NC to PA about once a month. I love my car. It did take me a little bit to get used to how to roof was shaped because I felt like I was in a bubble. I like the odometer and everything in the middle because I can see how fast my husband is driving. I would definitely buy another one of these. I can get about 500-600 miles out of a tank (11.1), plus it only takes about thirty bucks to fill up. If you are looking for a manual transmission be careful I think that the clutch is really loose.

The Best I Ever Had - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By Sam - January 25 - 3:00 pmI bought the 2008 Yaris 9-14-07 and went on vacation. 44 mpg on the interstate, 41 mpg city and interstate. 3500 miles and not one problem. Am I happy. The only thing I didnt like was when you drive on dirt roads, the rear fender wheel wells have no guards and the road noise is bad.

Great on fuel - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By convair580 - November 9 - 10:00 amI just took a trip from Spokane to Glacier and setting the cruise control at 60 mph to 70 mph with the AC I got 48 miles per gallon with an automatic transmission! On the way back I got 42 miles per gallon. On the average we get between 35-40 miles per gallon. So why buy a Prius and save money a guy a Yaris.

Best value in a compact car - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By davedietrich - September 19 - 1:19 pmI have done extensive research before buying the Yaris. Reliability is bulletproof, low maintenance costs, drives like it is a bigger car. With the right tires (Michelin Defender) the drive is very smooth and quiet. Fuel economy is exceptional. Peppy for an auto with only a 1.5 engine. Surprisingly good room in the back and front seats. The seats are quite comfortable and supportive. Only negative is the small cargo area in the hatchback. Will be driving this car for a very long time. If you need a car that does not break the bank or your budget for as long as you own it, yo really can not go wrong with a Yaris.

Fun little car - 2008 Toyota Yaris
By Buddy - September 16 - 2:46 pmI traded in my Ford Excursion for this little car. After driving a monster SUV, I find this car to be nimble and quick. Its the only cheap car that a 62" man can slip in and out of easily. Its noisy on the freeway but handles well enough that I dont feel Im in a death trap. I drive on Houstons busy interstate system, even in the rain and my lil Yaris holds its own which really surprised me! I miss my monster SUV, but hey, get over it! Im averaging 41 mpg which is almost 4 times better than my Excursion with it guzzling V10 engine. Ive gotten lots of compliments and questions from strangers. This car will pay for itself in gas alone. I dont like the "cute car" comments though.
