This Year's Model Updates:

An old nameplate makes a comeback. The 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a new SUV that takes the philosophy of Toyota's old compact but tough off-roader and adapts it to meet the demands of the 21st-century consumer.

Pros:
  • Superior off-road ability, comfortable and supportive front seats, retro styling that captures the spirit of the original.
Cons:
  • Limited visibility fore and aft, rear-seat entry hindered in spite of reverse-opening doors.

  • Best of Jeep & Toyota in 1 package - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I love Jeeps and Toyotas. The FJ Cruiser is the best of both. Sized like a Wrangler, but with class of a 4runner. I am in my 60s, and this is just plain fun to drive. Good 4 wheel capability, very comfortable in town and on the interstate. Been told I can use mid-grade, not premium, that should help. I love off-roading, camping and blackpowder, and I never plan to "grow up". This vehicle should help that!! The only negatives: wish the gas cover locked, console box should have a cover, and wish I could have gotten the package without the sub-woofer. Storage box would have been more useful to me. Anyone who has driven a CJ or Wrangler will not have visibility issues. Buy one!!!

  • Fun but not really a family vehicle - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
    By -

We purchased the FJ in April after husband fell in love with it. I too really like the vehicle but have found that the "suicide" type doors do not function well with a family. Getting in and out (especially in tight parking spaces) can be a real nuisance with kids. Also found that the sun visors are of little use because of the interior design. One other flaw that we have found is that the windshield is a rock magnet!! The straight up and down offers no deflection of rocks. Let me say again, we really love this vehicle, but are trading it in on a 4Runner simply because of the door issue which we thought would not be as big a problem as it was. If it came in a true 4 door wed keep it!

Excellent SUV. Toyota put the fun back into its line of cars with this one. Getting about 22 MPH with my 2X4 auto. Runs better than it looks. And I think it looks great. Lots of room and the mirrors are excellent. You have a nice panoramic view out of front window. Quick and quiet ride.

This is an incredible vehicle. It rides smooth, excellent mpg for SUV, and such a sharp looking vehicle. I waited for 2 months for the vehicle. Well worth the wait.

  • FJs fantastic - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I purchased the first FJ on this dealers lot and I could not be happier. I sold my 2000 Tacoma to get the FJ. The ride off road is absolutely awesome as expected but the normal driving conditions handling and driving is great too. Off roading in the Sierras was great, it is as rugged and unstoppable as all the reports say it is. Would definately recommend one!

We test drove other SUVs in the market and finally purchased this car fully loaded. Spouse loves the commanding view when she drives and it has power to push the car for a quick merge into traffic.

  • What do you expect, its a Toyota!! - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

I bought my Fj one year ago with 60000 miles, trading in my 4 runner. Have no regrets about it. I have close to 80000 miles on it now and have had no problems at all. Absolutely love this vehicle. If you are thinking about getting one, do not hesitate. You will regeret not owning this fine piece of work.

  • Great vehicle...Love it - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
    By -

Well, so far I am impressed with my purchase. I purchased the FJ about 2 1/2 weeks ago and it is running great. The fuel economy isnt the best, but it isnt the worst. Ive been getting about 20.5 on the highway and 18 in the city. Which to me isnt too bad, in my 99 S10 truck I received 20/16. I dont have the 4WD, didnt need it. I like the FJ because of its look and comfort. Yes, it is hard to get in the back, but Im not driving other people around all of the time. So far, great experience and I love the FJ!

  • Best of 2007 - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

The FJ lives up to all the press. One top tester said it was the best of 2007. The FJ drives like a $35,000 sedan on the highway and performs off road like a $30,000 jeep. And it looks like a $40,000 SUV. The 4x2 gets good (21-24) MPG.

  • 50,000 Miles Later, Still Great - 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
    By -

This is my 50,000 update to my prior review. No mechanical or cosmetic problems. Everything works like it should. Pulled my trailer last weekend like its not even there. Interior still looks new. No light bulbs have had to be replaced. I love the cavernous interior and doors that close like a vault. I still expect my kids to drive it in 10 years.
