This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid is all-new. The main difference between it and all other Camry models is that it has a gasoline/electric hybrid powertrain that is able to provide exceptional fuel economy. The Camry Hybrid also benefits from the 2007 Camry full redesign, as well.

Pros:
  • Roomy cabin, efficient hybrid powertrain, stronger acceleration than many regular four-cylinder family sedans.
Cons:
  • More expensive than most other Camry styles, small trunk.

  • Gave up my Lexus for TCH - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

I gave up my IS 300 which was only getting 24 mpg and required super unleaded gas for the TCH which has averaged +/-40 mpg and takes regular gas. That and the fact this is more of a family car makes the daily 90 mile commute (Playa del Rey to Irvine) somewhat bearable. I went with the base model in magnetic grey because no dealer (went to 4 and contacted 10) had the set up I wanted (grey & leather). No complaints so far. Only quirk I noticed was the low gas light came on and the cruise range stated 29 miles, but when I filled the tank, it only took 14.5 gallons. I guess the car is very conservative about running out of gas. Probably couldve waited another 100 miles.

  • Further update - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

After 18,000 miles still very happy with this car. A recent trip to PA from CT with cruise set at 75, 4 people on board, and A/C set on economy, got 36-37 mpg. When filling the tank afterward, my own calculation was closer to 38. My wife had a bumper issue backing out of a space and clipping an SUV so yes the bumpers are suspect - it looked like someone pushed a basketball about half way into the front bumper corner. I took off the plastic shroud underneath and wedged a crow bar up there and popped the dent back out. No damage to the paint and only a slight crease left at point of impact. Just saved a big repair bill at the bodyshop!

Ours is the loaded Silver anniversary edition bought new now with 116K miles. Mileage is ok at 28-30 city and 34-35 highway. Car has been reliable except for recall for steering issue and the hybrid batteries just failed. Luckily we live in CT, a CARB state so it was replaced under warranty. Interior fit an finish is subpar and dashboard clicks and pops when cold. We have never gotten more than 30k miles on a set of tires and we buy good quality tires. Not a great effort from Toyota.

  • Worth the extra money - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Beautiful, practical, roomy and comfortable car. It states the gas mileage is 36-40 mpg. I average 31. I dont feel I accelerate to quickly so I am not sure why it doesnt get better. Also, the interior material on the dash directly in front of the shifter rubs and makes an annoying noise. I am going to take it in and see what they can do.

  • Really delivers the stated MPG! - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
    By -

I have been getting a true 40 mpg through the first 3,000 miles in Seattles mixed terrain and often slower paced traffic. Extremely quiet car, great for trips. We love it. However, I would upgrade to leather, as the cloth in my car feels cheap and has stained easily. Hitting the brakes very hard in emergency situations gave me unpredictable results. An extremely minor complaint for a car that delivers so much.

Only have had the car a week now but so far its been great. Averaging 38.5 mpg so far - no problem areas either. Electronics are fun but will take a while to figure out. The blue tooth phone setup was a snap and my razr v3 connected with no issues.

  • Great car. - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Smooth ride. Comfortable. MPG dropped when cold weather hit. Went from 32 mpg in town to 26 with temps hovering near zero. Temps back in the 40 degree range and mpg up to 28. A highway trip netted me 44 mpg. Traded a Prius for the Camry. Prius mileage suffered in cold weather, too. I loved the Prius but the Camry excels as the best combination of mileage and comfort.

  • Initial Evaluation - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

Just bought the car. Have to get used to the larger window view blocking caused by airbag adjustments in the cars design. Between the adjustment and accommodating to the cars slower take off response it is a little tricky learning to move out into traffic from a side road. I am beginning to catch on and adjust. The car is responsive, but who wants to full throttle a hybrid when you are not in a pinch? It has a smooth quiet ride, sometimes eerily quiet. It took me a while to figure out how to dim the night light level on the instrument panel. There is a lot of light around the CD player. I am getting about 38 miles to the gallon, local non-expressway.

  • Terrific car - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
    By -

Through 11 months and 16,500 miles the Camry Hybrid couldnt have been better. Average mpg is 35.2 with 40 plus mpg at sustained highway speeds (65-70). The performance is more than adequate for hill climbing, two-lane road passing even on hills, and merging onto freeways. The electric motor seems to work like a supercharger. I am very pleased.

  • Is it OK to love a car? - 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
    By -

The Camry Hybrid is a marvel of technology. Toyota has done a fantastic job! Ride is extremely quiet, the smart key technology is awesome, luxurious feel with decent options, very safe for family. I can go on and on. The bottom line is that I am smiling ear to ear when driving this car. I hope Toyota brings this technology to all of their cars and makes this standard equipment. It truly is awesome!
