This Year's Model Updates:

For 2006 Suzuki has fully redesigned its Grand Vitara compact SUV. For the new Grand Vitara, Suzuki abandoned the truck-based platform of the previous versions and built it on a more carlike frame, although it's reinforced to allow for some off-road duty. The Grand Vitara now has a fairly deluxe interior and uses little of the previous version's cheap-looking plastic.

Pros:
  • Quality interior, quiet cabin, long list of standard features.
Cons:
  • Economy-minded four-cylinder no longer an option.

  • My 06 Manual GV - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Very nice looking car, had some issues with the tires, shock absorber and skid plates as well as the fuel comsumption. Other than that, I feel very happy with my car, specially the "looking good" factor. The 4x4 capabilities are in no doubt, very well capable in deep mud, dust, hills and other obstacles.

  • Great little suv - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

I have about 30,000 miles on my 06 GV luxury and have been very happy with it. This is the only compact suv with real 4WD. I drive on the beach all season with this and love the way it handles on and off road. Had one issue with a faulty throttle body bit once replaced acceleration was excellent. Love the appearance, size, interior, stereo. Hope future models improve gas mileage. Great for a small family.

  • WOW! - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

After having my last vehicle (a Honda) for 13 years and 225,000 miles, I had no intention of changing loyalties. However, being intrigued by the design I opened the door and the rest is history! A test drive and two emails later, I bought one of the first Suzukis this dealer offered. With extremely long legs, I had resigned myself to never being comfortable on long drives...three months and 3,500 miles later, I can testify that 4 1/2 hour trips without stopping are no longer painful!

  • Good Buy so far - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

I bought my suzuki with 18,000 miles already on it. The gas mileage is as stated if you drive 55mph or less, at 70mph it drops to 19/21 mpg. engine power is avg but the transmission seems weak. Interior is holding together well, so is exterior. 4-wheel alignment is a must as it comes from the factory way off. The brakes seem to fade away when slowing from high speeds. Undecided if i would buy another Suzuki or not, but i think a better vehicle would be much more expensive.

  • This worries me a little... - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

The Grand Vitara is a nice vehicle to drive around the city. Its peppy, but not very fast. What worries me is this: when I get on the freeway, its sometimes really difficult for my Grand Vitara to accelerate, especially when going uphill. I used to drive a 95 Cadillac Seville, and when I used the cruise control, the car would remain at whatever speed I set it at, whether going uphill or downhill. With my GV, when I use cruise control, if Im going uphill it wont keep it at the speed I set it at; itll sometimes go down 5 mph. Also, sometimes my windshield wipers get stuck when I turn them off. There is barely any lumbar support, so driving for long distances is tiring and a bit painful on my back. I only paid $21,000

  • Very Impressive - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

My wife and I never thought we would ever own a Suzuki. We were planning on buying a Honda CRV or a Subaru and then one night we saw the new Suzuki Grand Vitara. After doing our research, viewing the standard options and price we were almost sold. We went for a test drive one and that same weekend purchased it! We are impressed with the interior quality, fit and finish. We are also impressed with its AWD capabilities (we drove it in the snow and torrential rain). We will certainly keep this one, recommend the dealership and the model. Keep up the good work Suzuki!

My 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara has clean lines and an aggressive look. My wife finds it easy to drive and maneuver. It provides good comfort over longer distances. The fuel economy is much better than our previous 1998 Isuzu Trooper. The price was very good considering all you get for the money. Our dealer is friendly and helpful.

  • Love & hate relationship - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

I bought this vehicle because I was in the market for an affordable, reliable small SUV that was rear wheel drive. I am a mechanic by trade and this setup is easier to maintain. However at 15,700 miles, the factory Yokohama tires are shot. I dont believe it to be an alignment issue since they are worn only on the inside just cheap tires. My wife insisted on the solid red one and I am very dissapointed that the paint is rapidly deteriorating, the mirrors are already faded to white on top. Also, there are too many cheap plastic trim pieces interior & exterior that easily fall off and im finding out resale value is really bad. This one is 2wd and has plenty of power for the size of the motor.

  • Long Drive Commuter - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara
    By -

I commute 120 miles to work and back on the interstate every day and traded in my Verona so I could see over traffic. My gas millage is the same as in the Verona. I am very impressed with the smooth, nimble handling of this vehicle.

  • First New Car - 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

The interior of my Grand Vitara is loud. It has a lot of engine and road news. However it drives smoothly. Its gas mileage could be a lot better. The interior could be better as well. The parts look and seem very cheap. The seats are already pulling. It needs a better quality sound system. Having said this, it is a fun vehicle to drive, it handles well, and it is very stylish.
