Overview & Reviews
Two new models, the H6-3.0 L.L.Bean Edition and the H6-3.0 VDC, both featuring a more-powerful 3.0-liter engine, join the happy Outback family.
- The security of all-wheel drive, comfortable on pavement, capable on dirt, well-appointed interior.
- Questionable exterior styling, still not an SUV in terms of pure off-road capability.

Very Best All Around Vehicle - 2001 Subaru Outback
By RickyRed - May 17 - 2:00 amMy Outback AWD Wagon is solid, dependable, quick, economical, and luxurious. I got all of this for 25K! It outdoes Honda, VW, Toyota by far! It also gives you much more than ANY BMW or similar luxury AWD for the price.

2001 Outback Sedan - 2001 Subaru Outback
By MartyJ - August 8 - 2:00 amExcellent road handling in dry, wet and snow conditions. However, anti lock brakes take longer to stop on ice. The ride is so smooth, you can be doing 80 mph and it feels like you are doing 50. I had to monitor my speed closely during the first few months to keep myself from speeding. I like the fact that you dont have to push a button to shift gears. Gear shifting is like a manual transmission (side to side). Moonroof has a shade to cover the glass so street lamps dont distract you at night.

Most Pleased - 2001 Subaru Outback
By carnell - April 5 - 7:30 pmThe two improvements that I would appreciate are; a front seat arm rest to avoid fatigue on long trips - the 10 and 2 o,clock hand positions are very tiring, and directional signal display as a flashing bar in the exterior mirrors for increased safety. Best car in my 46 years of driving.
