This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

My WRX STi is very fun to drive and the all wheel drive sticks you to the road. I was a little disappointed with the interior design. 300hp is of course rated at flywheel and not at wheels. Dyno revealed 12% drop to 264hp, which is still impressive, but a 6 cylinder would have done better for reliability and would be much smoother. The old M3s put out 192hp from a non-turbo 4 cylinder and that engine was not worth the pretty penny, but they were more fuel efficient. Dont do this to a 4 cylinder. Start with a 6 cylinder! Weight distribution could use tweaking and why is this a 6-speed? Thats what you get for hiking up the hp. Engine cant handle the power!

I love driving my black WRX STI. It is very comfotable and you can see out of it 360 degrees. The air conditioning works great in Pennsylvania hot humid August weather. Its all wheel drive is excellent in the rain , even with factory summer tires, which will be replaced with winter tires when the snow and ice arrives. Its too bad with my driving that the car gets only 16 miles per gallon, but my Miata got 20 and it only had 133 horsepower.

This car is not for everyone. But I personally love it. Its much cheaper to maintain if youre a DIY person. you should be aware of a few things though. "summer only" tires. Youll be buying some A/S tires soon. Brake pads are expensive from dealer. Can be had for much less online. Not a lot of wheels fit over the Big Brembo Brakes. Awesome car though. So happy I bought it.

The only thing i would change is the acceleration "out of the hole." Other than that, its a great car!!

The WRX is the best value 4door sport sedan out on the market. I am 64" tall, and there is plenty of head and leg room in this car. Space for seating in the rear is limited but decent. The seats are very comfortable and supportive; after driving for 120 miles straight in this car, i was not tired at all. The ride is smooth, but responsive. The steering is quick and effortless. The performance is amazing! If you stay off the turbo you can get really good gas mileage too. The standard 6disc in dash player is not the best, but it sounds pretty pretty good (for what you pay for its excellent).

i was looking at this car thinking it would be a decent car, i had yet to test drive it and i liked the interior. When i test drove the car i was sold on it, that is by far the fastest turbo 4cyl engine i have ever seen. The price bit my wallet a bit more than i wanted them to, i tried to get the car for invoice but i couldnt get anyone to do that, the best i got was $600 over invoice or around $31k then taxes etc.. i am getting the car for a total of $32,900. I cant wait to open this car up to its full capabilities but i want to break it in properly and get used to the power so i can control the car and not let the car control me.

I searched for a year or more for car to fit my needs. Thought about 911, except needed to occasionally take my kids. Then thought M5 or M3, but after driving STI I never thought about anything else. This car is flawless in terms of performance and handling. Might not have the same prestige, but I would stack it up against anything. I love it.
