Overview & Reviews
Scion is one of the youngest brands on the market -- which seems appropriate given that it's targeted at a very youthful demographic. Scion has quickly found a home in the hearts of buyers seeking its winning blend of value and style. The frosting on this cake is that Scion is part of the Toyota family, offering all the quality and reliability you'd expect from a marque with its parentage.
When Toyota realized early in the 21st century that it was losing market share in the younger demographic due to a stodgy image, the company took a chance and decided to spin off a new brand called Scion (its name means "descendant" or "heir to"). The first Scions, the xA and xB models, were introduced for the 2004 model year. These edgy little cruisers were first available only in the California market; after a staggered rollout, Scion vehicles became available nationwide.
Both the xA and xB were immediate hits, snapped up by young (or young at heart) buyers looking for high-quality, fun and affordable wheels. The boxy yet funky styling of the Scions provided a lot of passenger and cargo room for the cars' small footprints, making them ideal choices for campus and urban residents alike. They also coddled the youth market with flashy sound systems; Scion's stereos are among the best in the economy-car segment.
The following year, the Scion brood grew to include the tC. This compact but sporty coupe offered more performance relative to its older siblings, thanks largely to a more powerful engine. The xA has since been replaced by the xD, which carries on the quirky and customizable spirit of its predecessor. By 2012, Scion had introduced the tiny iQ city car and the sporty FR-S sport coupe.
In the interest of keeping things simple for buyers, Scions typically come in only one trim level. However, buyers have the option of customizing their rides with a host of dealership-provided accessories, such as a subwoofer, body kits and custom exhausts. Scion also offers no-haggle pricing wherein buyers pay the list (window sticker) price, thus streamlining the negotiation process.
So far, a simple and well-equipped model lineup, no-haggle pricing and a variety of dealer-added options have combined to make the Scion brand popular with American consumers. The economy car segment isn't typically the first place you'd look for stylish, fun-to-drive vehicles, but Scion has changed all that by offering cars rich with a seductive exuberance that belies their modest pricing.

One Year - 2008 Scion XB
By Mark19 - May 24 - 6:06 pmAfter one year and 13,700 miles no Major issues. Nautical blue with 5 speed. Car runs great. Ipod hookup works well. Power is good. Minor issue of clutch. This is the 7th car I owned with a clutch and I still feel uncomfortable with it. Feels like it sticks or slow to release. Other minor issue was the radio tuner knob keeps falling off. I am getting 30-32 miles per gallon on regular no name gas. Breaks are excellant, steering is great. Radio is fantastic. Headlights are exceptional at night. Interior lighting is great. Back seat undershelfs are great. Can seat 5 adults without a problem. Side view mirrors with lights are great. Horn is very sensative. Steering wheel radio controls are easy to operate.

Great little car - 2006 Scion xA
By j - May 22 - 2:00 amThis has been the BEST car Ive owned. Yes, its little. Yes, its basic. But if you want something that is awesome on gas mileage--39-40 mpg mixed and extremely reliable, this is your car. I have put over 86,000 on my XA w/o any problems. It handles great in the snow w/ decent tires, you can park anywhere and it always started--even when it dipped around 30 below.

Scion experience - 2007 Scion TC
By ali - May 20 - 4:10 pmLove my scion, bought it brand new upon trading in a toyota celica 02, have never had any problems its holds up to the rigid expectations of the toyota name. Tires have air pressure sensors on them which are too sensitive for the CO climate but otherwise the car is reliable fuel efficient quick comfortable and has maximized its space. Would like to see a more classy interior vs the plastic dash etc but after adding window tint and a spoiler the car looks sweet. The tires (yokohama stock) were extremely pricy when time to replace. otherwise no complaints.

love my box on wheels - 2005 Scion XB
By caw - May 18 - 10:43 amIve had my Scion Xb for a year now and still love it. I can pack it with people or things and get wonderful gas mileage (a real + these days!). Weve used it to carry everything from a full-sized door to enough Christmas packages and food for a large family. Its not the fastest car on the highway, but goes more than fast enough for me to travel comfortably ( and affordably) on the Interstate in the fast lane.

Love My Xd - 2009 Scion XD
By Bree - May 18 - 8:20 amTraded in our 2001 BMW 330Ci & bought the 2009 Xd earlier this week. So far absolutely loving it. Its surprisingly roomy & comfortable on the inside despite not being a large car. The gas mileage has been great. The interior seems to be well thought out for the driver with plenty of compartments & were looking forward to having this car for years to come.

Go for the Special Edition - 2005 Scion xA
By f_tahesh - May 17 - 9:56 pmThis seemingly tiny car has exceptional style, performs famously, and handles unbelievably well (more like a German car than a Toyota) due to the traction and stability control (only offered on the red Special Edition).

Very Fun!!! - 2005 Scion XB
By Amealia - May 14 - 10:00 amThis car is so much fun. It is quite a head turner as well. I would definitely recommend this car to those who are driving long distances to and from work and to those who like a different look.
