Make Overview:

Scion is one of the youngest brands on the market -- which seems appropriate given that it's targeted at a very youthful demographic. Scion has quickly found a home in the hearts of buyers seeking its winning blend of value and style. The frosting on this cake is that Scion is part of the Toyota family, offering all the quality and reliability you'd expect from a marque with its parentage.

When Toyota realized early in the 21st century that it was losing market share in the younger demographic due to a stodgy image, the company took a chance and decided to spin off a new brand called Scion (its name means "descendant" or "heir to"). The first Scions, the xA and xB models, were introduced for the 2004 model year. These edgy little cruisers were first available only in the California market; after a staggered rollout, Scion vehicles became available nationwide.

Both the xA and xB were immediate hits, snapped up by young (or young at heart) buyers looking for high-quality, fun and affordable wheels. The boxy yet funky styling of the Scions provided a lot of passenger and cargo room for the cars' small footprints, making them ideal choices for campus and urban residents alike. They also coddled the youth market with flashy sound systems; Scion's stereos are among the best in the economy-car segment.

The following year, the Scion brood grew to include the tC. This compact but sporty coupe offered more performance relative to its older siblings, thanks largely to a more powerful engine. The xA has since been replaced by the xD, which carries on the quirky and customizable spirit of its predecessor. By 2012, Scion had introduced the tiny iQ city car and the sporty FR-S sport coupe.

In the interest of keeping things simple for buyers, Scions typically come in only one trim level. However, buyers have the option of customizing their rides with a host of dealership-provided accessories, such as a subwoofer, body kits and custom exhausts. Scion also offers no-haggle pricing wherein buyers pay the list (window sticker) price, thus streamlining the negotiation process.

So far, a simple and well-equipped model lineup, no-haggle pricing and a variety of dealer-added options have combined to make the Scion brand popular with American consumers. The economy car segment isn't typically the first place you'd look for stylish, fun-to-drive vehicles, but Scion has changed all that by offering cars rich with a seductive exuberance that belies their modest pricing.

  • A Great Little Car- but not Cadillac - 2013 Scion TC
    By -

This is a great little car. I have had it six months and have driven on 1200 mile trip, around town and 50 mile trip twice a week. The interior is about what you would expect for the money, no complaint. Plenty of power on the interstate and around town, fun to drive. Not as much fun as Mazda 3 speed but much cheaper price. Great backseat room, nice radio (little hard to learn how to use it at first.) Comfortable. I did drive it on the worst road I have driven on in 50 years and thought it would break, but it didnt. No car would have done well on that road. Well worth the money. I have never checked miles/gal but it seems to be pretty good. No complaints there, or I would have checked it.

  • Great Car,Still :) - 2005 Scion TC

I just turned over 30,000 miles in my 2005 Scion tC. Not bad for one year of ownership. I love the car, the only change I would make is add a 6th gear. 5th is turning to high an RPM at freeway speeds. I must be luckly because I seem to be getting metter gas mileage than most here. My worst tank was 27.5 and I average around 29. I always get 31 to 33 on longer (500 mile) trips.

  • Who Can Be A Scion? - 2005 Scion XB

The Scion XB is a very cool car to drive. We added about $5,000 worth of "the cool stuff" like neon lighting and a 6 disc CD changer. The ride is smooth and very comfortable. This vehicle has a whole lot of room. If you are into cars and you are the kind of people who will put money in your car for amps and subs, THIS is the car to get. Its square, its amps are square, and you could get square subs so its all good in the Scion. Go to a Scion dealer near you to check out an XB!

If you want a fun ride and what to turn heads, here it is! THE SCION XB. I have own many cars but the XB is the best by far. The cool look, low price and the more then enough room for an army is what sold my wife and I. A newly married couple wanting a car that will fit our on going moving life style it was the best car for us. Fitting everything we need for mountain biking, camping or what ever life throw our way The XB has room for it. My wife and I love to drive it, its a very smooth ride. The Big front wind shield and placment of the speedometer keeps everything in plan view. You dont even have to take your eyes from the road. But out of all of it.

  • Love my Scion... - 2005 Scion XB

We purchased this car primarily for a light weight vehicle to tow behind a motor home. Blue OX makes an excellent base plate for the Scion. We like it so much we have found we drive it all the time and let our other vehicles sit in the garage. Great little car!

  • I just love it - 2005 Scion XB

I am a custom window decorator. I pack 5 boxes of sample on and under back- seat. Its easy to get to my samples. Backdoor is easy to use. Lots of headroom. Just perfect for day to day in-city driving and maneuvering. The gasmileage is fantastic. No complains.

  • Aseome Lava Orange Car! - 2005 Scion XB

We love our Scion XB! We have three children and two dogs. Our entire family fits comfortably and stylishly in our lava colored scion. People are so curious about the car - they love to ask questions and we get a great deal of "lovin it" feedback.
