Overview & Reviews
Scion is one of the youngest brands on the market -- which seems appropriate given that it's targeted at a very youthful demographic. Scion has quickly found a home in the hearts of buyers seeking its winning blend of value and style. The frosting on this cake is that Scion is part of the Toyota family, offering all the quality and reliability you'd expect from a marque with its parentage.
When Toyota realized early in the 21st century that it was losing market share in the younger demographic due to a stodgy image, the company took a chance and decided to spin off a new brand called Scion (its name means "descendant" or "heir to"). The first Scions, the xA and xB models, were introduced for the 2004 model year. These edgy little cruisers were first available only in the California market; after a staggered rollout, Scion vehicles became available nationwide.
Both the xA and xB were immediate hits, snapped up by young (or young at heart) buyers looking for high-quality, fun and affordable wheels. The boxy yet funky styling of the Scions provided a lot of passenger and cargo room for the cars' small footprints, making them ideal choices for campus and urban residents alike. They also coddled the youth market with flashy sound systems; Scion's stereos are among the best in the economy-car segment.
The following year, the Scion brood grew to include the tC. This compact but sporty coupe offered more performance relative to its older siblings, thanks largely to a more powerful engine. The xA has since been replaced by the xD, which carries on the quirky and customizable spirit of its predecessor. By 2012, Scion had introduced the tiny iQ city car and the sporty FR-S sport coupe.
In the interest of keeping things simple for buyers, Scions typically come in only one trim level. However, buyers have the option of customizing their rides with a host of dealership-provided accessories, such as a subwoofer, body kits and custom exhausts. Scion also offers no-haggle pricing wherein buyers pay the list (window sticker) price, thus streamlining the negotiation process.
So far, a simple and well-equipped model lineup, no-haggle pricing and a variety of dealer-added options have combined to make the Scion brand popular with American consumers. The economy car segment isn't typically the first place you'd look for stylish, fun-to-drive vehicles, but Scion has changed all that by offering cars rich with a seductive exuberance that belies their modest pricing.

By GYNUWYNE - June 22 - 2:03 amI Love Love Love my Scion! Its stylish, comfortable, great gas mileage, unique, reliable. I want to keep my car running a long time so I perform reg. mntc. on it. Reg. oil changes, tire rotations, breaks, fluid flushes, spark plugs replaced. At my last oil change, the technician said my car is in great condition.

2006 Scion tC - 2006 Scion TC
By Stefano Bury - June 21 - 4:30 pmI got my 2006 Scion tC about 3 months ago and couldnt be happier. I traded in a 2000 Mercury Mystique, called the poor mans BMW. Theres nothing out there in the entry level compact car. I researched the Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra, and Honda Civic (no Korean cars, though), and the best bang for my buck was the tC. Did you know theyre monospec? It means there is only one base model, but... The base model comes with power windows both with one touch activation, panorama roof and moonroof, mp3 player, 160hp and 163 lb/ft torque, and best of all... Toyota reliability! Only complaint is the aft panel in the roof sometimes rattles on bad roads, but what do you expect from a $17,000 car?

RS is really sweet - 2005 Scion xA
By DrW - June 21 - 11:46 amPurchased 05 RS 1.0 #1386 in 12/04. The car is underpowered from 0-20, yet mid-range torque with 5-speed is good enough for highway driving. xA is not a 80+ mph vehicle. However, xA is an Excellent around town errand runner, RS edition makes a fashion statement with 17" wheels and numerous power features (windows, mirrors, moonroof, remote locks & alarm). People do gawk, Flat out cute like the Mini, just not as fast. Build quality definitely originates from Toyota gene pool. After 7500 miles, avg 33 mpg around town. The RS 5-speed is the only way to go with this vehicle, value plus. Do not buy the automatic in this model.

xB For the Win! - 2005 Scion XB
By ZionXB - June 18 - 3:23 pmI bought this car in Jacksonville, Florida. I picked it up for $14,000 out the door. Its a 2005 Auto Black xB with an INJEN air intake already installed. I got it for a great price, it drives great, and it gets awesome gas mileage. We packed four people for a weekend getaway and everyone was comfortable. Even with the limited HP, it still accelerates comfortably. I also love the amount of modifications that can be done.

Love this car! - 2008 Scion XD
By Dsimes - June 14 - 1:40 amI bought the xD in August of 08 to replace my 06 Cobalt. The xD is loads of fun! The car handles excellent and is quick for its engine size. Im tall and it fits me perfectly. Very roomy inside for its size. It will surprise you in that respect. The 5 speed manual shifts easy. The clutch is a bit tight and requires a few higher revs then my Cobalt did to get moving, but this is an engine that welcomes higher revs. Im very glad I chose the xD for my next car. I have put 10,000 miles onthe clock so far and look forward to putting many more on it! I average around 35 mpg at 69 mph.
