I was looking at all coupes including Audi TT, 350Z, G35, etc. Needed combination of reasonable cargo, fun drive, fuel economy, style, and traction. The tc was lowest on style and traction, but won....., and I could have bought two for the price of the other cars. The car is loaded with goodies and fun to drive. The stick is fun, but the automatic would be boring and render the car to "just like any other compact". My fuel economy is 23 in town and 30 on the highway. Its basically hard to complain about the car, but there are some annoying flaws. The double press "all unlock" key feature is poorly designed. The roof posts badly obstruct critical vision, front and back(a surprise to me

The 2005 Scion tC is a great car. I love mine. I recently upgraded from a 1997 Honda Civic to my tC and I was amazed by the difference in power, looks, and the overall way that it drives. Honda cant touch what this car has to offer as far as price, power, and options. The gas milage well...its not that of my old Honda. I have no problem giving that up for the performance. Its an all around great car. The insurance is cheaper on it than it was on my Civic. The two things that I wish the car had are daytime running lamps and a bigger trunk, but besides that I have no complaints. This is a great car for young buyers like myself. It has the relablity of Toyota and the perforamce and style to impress young buyers at a great price.

  • At least it looks sporty... - 2005 Scion TC

Ok, here goes. Ive had this car for 3 years. I live in the southwest and it gets hot. The air in this car doesnt get cold, I guess its too much Glass to effectively cool also my sun-visor broke 3 months ago. I agree the skin is too weak to absorb any impact. You will find within weeks that the acres of smooth well fitted sheet metal are too much temptation for rude parking neighbors to resist. I have so many dents and dings I lost count, and I park far away from the doors! The engine is good for the price. But its def not a sports car. Then handling is "so, so". Biggest complaint is Toyotas "debilitating" maintenance schedule. Unless your name is Rockefeller dont plan on keeping up.

I purchased my tC a year and a half ago, it now has 32,xxx miles. Stepping down to this economy car from my 1990 LS 400 with 200,xxx miles was a wise decision, especially with skyrocketing gas prices. I average around 26-28 mpg mostly highway, my highest on single tank was 32 mpg. I once fit 3 adult friends + me + mountain bike in it. I replaced the hatch struts at 30,000 miles =( . Also, it has spongy brakes. The large tire / fender gap makes it feel like I am driving an SUV. Please remember that the tC is an economy car and in stock form is a nice daily driver. It has a soft suspension and seat belt buzzer. Many of the tCs pitfalls can be remedied with upgrades. The tC is the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and sportiness (or lack thereof). I am happy with my purchase.

I am more happy than Lexus RX330 I had for a year. Lexus is a great car but it was just too pampering that I felt old in that car. This little tC has some stuff young people will enjoy and the design that even snobby architects (my coworkers) will love.

  • 16k well invested in a new car - 2005 Scion TC

The car has ample acceleration, response (not sports car) suspension and steering, and does actually get higher gas mileage than expected (the ones ive seen driven, all about 25- 27mpg). If you go in comparing to a 250hp suped up sports car, of course its not going to satisfy you. If you want a car that can move well, get you from point a to point b, and have a very attractive exterior. this is a great buy.

  • So much promise until you drive it!!!! - 2005 Scion TC

I have been looking at this car since it was introduced at the major auto shows. I was so exicted to test drive it. But I was so disappointed when I finally had the opportunity. I am 61" tall and my head brushed against the moonroof even with the seat at its lowest. The car had to get moving before there was brisk accelleration. The handelling felt average especially on a car with such large tires. The interior looked cheap and too plain. The car shifted well with a short throw. Braking was also very good. But the car just feels like a $16000 car. Overall car lacks refinement.

  • Not as great as I 1st thought - 2005 Scion TC

When i first purchased the car i was excited and it seemed like a pretty sporty car until i used it for a few months and realize it really isnt. it is sluggish and in the manual you are in 5th gear befor 45 or else it just feels strange driving around. i just want a car that i dont have to shift gears before i am halfway through an intersection. build quality is a joke. over time i have found at least 5 different rattles from all over the car. oh and my rear hatch handle straight up came off. repairs cost over 300 if not under warranty anymore and is a well known problem that scion refuses to deal with.
