Overview & Reviews
For 2004, the 9-3 convertible has been given the same full makeover the sedan received last year. The convertible is available in Arc and Aero models and equipped only with the 210-horsepower engine. The highline Vector sedan has been renamed the Aero, and the midlevel Arc sedan now comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission, rather than a six-speed. Bi-xenon headlights are a stand-alone extra on all 9-3s, while rear parking assist is now available as a non-package option on the sedan. The Sport Wheel Package for the Linear and Arc now includes a tire-pressure monitor.
- Balanced ride and handling characteristics, frugal yet powerful engines, generous passenger room, class-leading trunk space.
- Some turbo lag at lower speeds, interior lacks upscale look, not as vaultlike as some of its European competitors, front-wheel drive a disadvantage against rear-wheel-drive competitors for performance fans.

Score! - 2004 Saab 9-3
By yowz - July 3 - 3:16 pmJust bought a 2002 Volvo s60 2.4T about a month ago. Some lady totaled it for me by smashing into the passenger side. Was devastated until I found the Arc convertible. Went out and got this beauty and cannot believe how much of a better car it is! And I am paying about the same for a newer car with better handling, more horsepower and less mileage. Score.

Love this car! - 2004 Saab 9-3
By fledermaus98 - May 23 - 11:20 amIve had the Saab 9-3 for 4 years now and have loved every minute of it. There have been no major problems with this car and I have only had to do routine maintenance. The only gripe I have is that the silver plastic piece on top of the shifter came off (super glue fixed that!) and there was a rattle in the door which the dealer took care of promptly. The car handles like a dream and is very sporty. The gas mileage is also fantastic! I average 23 in the city (stepping on the gas pedal pretty hard) and 34 on the highway doing 75 to 80 miles an hour. I would not hesitate to recommend this car to anyone!

Pure Excitement - 2004 Saab 9-3
By SaabU - February 9 - 2:00 amI recently went out on a limb by buying the new Saab 9-3 Linear without having ever owned a Saab before. All I can say is that I feel there is no better choice that I could have made! The interior is original and the "Nightpanel" feature is awesome for touring in the Smoky Mtn. National Park at night... Through my job, I drive over 50 different makes and models of 03,04, and now 05 model cars and I have found none that match the quality and performance of my new Saab. Buy one, youll be glad you did.

Love my - 2004 Saab 9-3
By bunkyP - January 30 - 10:00 amBy far the funnest car Ive driven. I have not had any problems with rattles as previous posters have mentioned. I have experienced the "clunk" noise backing out of my driveway, but am 99% certain that it is just the hangers for the exhaust system moving. Its really no big deal. Dealership experience was excellent - they take care of you (free car wash coupons around town, discounted service coupons, accessories, etc.). Only 8K miles so far, but if overall reliability is good, the next car I buy will buy a 9-5!

Blown away - 2004 Saab 9-3
By Michael Leyden - January 4 - 2:00 amThis car is just like they say in the commercial. If you drive it, youll want to buy it. I wasnt even looking at cars, let alone Saabs! I wanted to get another truck. But I saw the price that they start at and their look is impeccable and nobody has them. So I test drove it, and I was sold. It drives like a dream, handling every nook of the road with ease. The turbo gives it the performance anyone needs. And since not that many people have them, Im looked at like Im driving a ferrari.
