Overview & Reviews
Saab changed the car's name to the 9-3, giving it a mild exterior freshening to boot. Around midyear, a high-output version of its 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder (making an amazing 200 horsepower) becomes the standard engine in the uplevel SE five-door and SE Convertible models equipped with a manual transmission. All SEs also get new five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels. All five-speed manual 9-3s get revised gearbox ratios and a numerically higher (4.05-to-1) final drive ratio for better off-the-line feel. A revised 9-3 interior headliner provides more padding for increased protection in the event of a crash. And five-door SE variants add an integrated driver-seat armrest and a centrally located cupholder that swings out from the instrument panel.
- Comfy interior, versatile hatchback model, torquey turbo motor, quirky personality.
- Controls not always intuitive, offbeat image, spotty build quality.

Navy Blue Rocket Sled - 1999 Saab 9-3
By Spark9-3 - March 11 - 10:00 amI have owned this car for about 2 months now. I love it. If you are good with driving stick this car will satisfy that urge for power. I love everything about the car, testdrive one, you will be hooked VERY quickly. My only advice is to find one with a CD changer as it costs 700 from saab to have one installed, and other than that the only option for CDs other than replacing the radio is a FM modulated changer (I just had one installed from tweeter today) which runs around $350.

I love my HO Saab!!! - 1999 Saab 9-3
By Ana - November 28 - 7:10 amI come from a family that have owned Saabs before I was born. This is my first Saab. I have had it over a year in Chicago and love it. It performs excellent in the snow. People can actually sit in the back seat. I was planning to keep it for just the summer, but now I cant get rid of it. The only problems have been a headlight and my A/C fan. At my last tune up they said everything looked great. I highly recommend the HO 9-3.

The best all-around convertible. - 1999 Saab 9-3
By spaced - July 21 - 10:00 amI recently purchased my Certified Pre- Owned Saab convertible after much research into pre-owned luxury convertible options. The Saab 9-3 S has the right mix of performance, safety, style, fun factor, and value. Body rattles over rough pavement are minimized, especially considering this car is a convertible. Seats 4 adults very comfortably. Even I (63") can fit in the back seat! Midnight blue is --beautiful--!!!

Saab 9-3 SE 4 dr Auto - 1999 Saab 9-3
By pmcag - April 2 - 4:20 pmBought a 9-3 with 65,000 mi and have been pretty happy. Dont like the auto climate system - defaults to air cond. in summer. Good fuel mileage. Much more power than my accord ex V-Tech. Oil changes are easy. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing major happens like an engine seizure due to oil pickup getting blocked.
