This Year's Model Updates:

The Vibe is an all-new model in Pontiac's lineup designed to combine the best attributes of an SUV, a station wagon and a small van. Thankfully, the result is rather attractive and hip, not to mention utilitarian.

Pros:
  • Crisp handling, unique features, utilitarian design.

Ive been looking at the vibe and its ever-more-numerous competitors (ZX5, Mazda3-5door, protoge5, PT Cruiser) and its Matrix twin, but all along I knew I wanted the Vibe. I drove a GT a year ago and loved it...but it took that long to find a used one all optioned-up and for a reasonable price. Now, a week later, I love it. Drives great, feels gret on the road, looks great inside and out. Even with 25,000miles on it when I bought it it looks and feels brand new. Did I mention it drives great? Everyone who sees it likes it. Ive loaded it up with gear, driven it like a race-car, hauled passengers, cranked the stereo and everything comes up smelling like roses...all good!

Love my Vibe. I was a little unsure at first and it wasnt really my first choice, but once I took it for a test drive I loved it. It just fit. Runs and drives smooth. Excellent for a 4 cylinder. Really has LOTS of room for hauling. I managed to fit (all in boxes) 2 desks, 2 filing cabinets and 2 office chairs in the back with the seats down.

  • Overall OK, but a few Kinks - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

Though Ive owned over fifteen used cars in my life, this was the first new car I bought. I bought it because it was half-Toyota, yet it had an all- American name. Overall, Im satisfied with it. Many people have commented on stylin it is. I like the interior features (the electric outlet, the many small storage compartments) and the old-school Pontiac style dashboard, lighted red at night. However, I dont care for the style of the rear-end, and Ive had minor electrical problems (battery, sunroof, the interior map light). Also, the pick-up is kind of slow. Interested? Get the GT, all possible options, and definately get the extended warranty -- GMs warranty STINKS!

Overall this car has been great. The build quality is excellent and it is extremely fun to drive. It is so versatile. The sound system is great and mileage is still impressive with 100k miles on it. 6 speed manual adds to the fun. Have only had to replace brakes and tires once and keep up on oil changes.

Car has been a great vehicle for its size - a little small. Ride is great and front seat is comfortable for 4-6 hour drives I make regularly (511" tall). Rear seat comforatbly seats adults and cargo space is flexible and adequate for most uses (golf clubs need to be angled to fit back there w/o folding seats down). The cruise is touchy on hills, revving alot. Overall Im very pleased with this vehicle - my only regret is that the new orange color was not available in the 2003 model I bought.

My wife and I bought the Vibe as a second car. We are both 6ft+ and it has great head room and fair leg room. It also good gas milage. The back seat has room for a car seat and two grandparents. We are very happy with it.

We bought the Vibe because we no longer needed a mini van; all the "children" were college age and had their own cars. We wanted something smaller but that could haul tons to colleges and apartments. The Vibe has fit the bill. Our Vibe also has worked well for camping trips.

  • Tough Little Work Car - 2003 Pontiac Vibe

It is a tough little work car that is cute and fun to drive. I am a big guy (6-1/2" & 245#) and I am totally comfortable with the leg and head room, even the back seat has more room than is typical in a compact car. It has adequate acceleration and very quick handling characteristics.

I have had the car since Valentines Day 2003. Great little car and great gas mileage. Only things Ive had issues with so far, part of my luggage rack fell off and left side of my stereo is dim and GMAC wants $230 to fix a light! CRAZY PEOPLE!!! Oh, and the windows that are very noisy when winding them up, one came off track, dealer wanted $165 to fix it, cost me nothing and had a friend do it just to tighten a loose bolt!!!
