  • Great van - 1999 Pontiac Montana

Our 99 Montana is great to drive. More than enough power, perfect ride, interior could not be set up better and it has been 100 percent reliable. I repair cars for a living and very seldom do you ever see one of these or the other GM versions for anything other than maintenance. So if you like getting you vehicle fixed this is not for you. Try the Chrysler van if you like paying for car repairs.

  • Im not a minivan owner, am I?... - 1999 Pontiac Montana

Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine someone as cool and as hip as ME would ever buy a minivan, but Ive got to admit, this has been a great vehicle. From vacations to baseball tournaments, the Montana has handled all that Ive thrown at it and has performed admirably. I get about 26 mph, which is crucial when you dive as much as I do. After 118,000 miles, you would expect SOMETHING to want to fall of the vehicle, but the most Ive had to do to it is replace the master cylinder. One con: it does not handle well in icy conditions (I couldnt write a completely glowing review!!!).

  • Never buy a Montana! - 2001 Pontiac Montana

Last week my Transmission went and this was the last straw! Ive had trouble with the windshield leaking water into the light on the centre roof, handles come off the right sliding door(Twice) right door wont open easily or at all. Hood corroded and had to be repainted. As to the transmission replacement, it was $3672.79 and this for a vehical with just 144.0 kms on it and less than four years old. The original cost was going to be $4300.00 but was reduced at the dealer(Popham on the Queensway in Toronto) I have no quarrel with the dealership but General Motors in my mind is not a reliable vehicle to own any more and we have four GM vehicals in my family...I just dont trust GM anymore...

Took this vehicle over from my sister who bought it new. Just suffered major engine repair when known defective intake manifold gasket deteriorated causing coolant to enter cylinders.

  • Nice Van - 2005 Pontiac Montana
    By -

Bought new in Dec. 05. No problems at 43,000 miles of mostly city driving. Only issue is with tire wear, need to rotate every 5,000 miles or rear tires will cup. Overall very nice van for the price.

This is my 2nd Montana van in 2 years. I purchased a 1999 and loved it, so I traded in for the 2000 with the power sliding door and entertainment system. This is the sportiest looking van around. I have broken cupholders and problem with the air bag light coming on. I would definetly buy another Montana.

Great running gear, but everything else is a mess. Has 35,200 miles and I have replaced the instrument cluster, stereo, cup holder, rear lock 3 times, auto sliding side door mech. 2 times, front seat cushions 4 times (side airbag box built in the seat kept cutting them), front seat cover once and a rear seat belt lock. The service at the dealer is the worst Ive ever seen. Some of these items took four visits and up to 5 months to repair, some have never been repaired. Warranty expires in 800 miles. Im trading in on a new Honda Pilot in this weekend, who know what will break by then?

  • Lots of Miles - 1999 Pontiac Montana

My van has 281,000 miles on it. The major problem with them is related to antifreeze. Everything that has cost me money to fix was antifreeze related. I had to replace parts that wore out like struts, steering components and such. I use it as a cargo van daily loaded down with 1500 pounds of weight daily and carry a ladder on top. I get about 17 mpg. When I drive it empty I still get 24mpg. The body is still in good shape, I just had to replace the door hinge because I open the door way too many times. The v6 is still has a lot of torque with all those miles. At 250k it finally got a hole in the leather seats, not to bad for a work truck.

  • Best vehicle Ive had so far! - 2000 Pontiac Montana
    By -

Ive had a short version of Montana for 5 years now. The van has 380,000km on it and it still runs. I only had to deal with minor problems. Just do your regular maintenance on this car and it will serve you well. So far this van has lived in Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver. Im upgrading to 2003 Pontiac Montana Thunder as it has many improvements over the previous models. AWD and independent suspension are just two of the many features. If you are looking for a good, reliable and enjoyable vehicle to own, look no further; there simply is no better option given their cost.
