Had this van for 2 years and I still love it. It is fun to drive. The Montana has a very powerful engine and it rides smooth. I think this van is the coolest of all vans. It is really sporty looking. The only problem so far is the oil change light wont go out. I have the 7 seater but shouldve went for the 8 seater.

  • An excellent Mini Van - 1999 Pontiac Montana

Since 9/11 we have been very aprehensive about flying as a family, so we have been driving everywhere. Two years ago we drove from NY to FL. During this 24 hour drive we well all very comfortable and delighted with the performance of the Montana. Since then we have gone back to FL, driven to MI, & MA a few times. The Van is more comfortable to drive than my family sedan. I am very happy with the product and intend to by another.

We have replaced the following since purchasing new in 1999: head gasket at 75K followed by 3.4L V6 engine at 125K. Intake manifold gasket failure is the likely culprit. Not through yet. Engine trouble light continues to display with replacement engine. CD player quit working at 30K. Pontiac Customer Service offered no goodwill assistance. Total cost of major repairs so far = $6K. Driving excitement = zero.

  • Engine blown at 30k - 1999 Pontiac Montana

Our beloved montana which has been a great car just blew the engine at 30k. It is older than 3 years so the warranty does not cover it.

  • Motor gasket leaks---twice! - 2002 Pontiac Montana
    By -

We had the head gasket replaced in summer of 2005 because it was leaking water. Dealership mechanic said that GM used inferior gaskets. Why? Well, it is leaking again (summer 2006). We have four sons and cannot afford to have it "fixed" again! I wish I had a way to return it to the dealership for them to deal with! Also, rear hatch squeaks, and the rubber weather stripping under both sliding doors came off!

We have had very good luck with our van. We have an 8 passenger and the individual removable seats are very convienent to configure for different trips or loads. The ride is incredible and it is a nice looking ride. We have one powered sliding door and definately recommend getting both sides with powered doors. I will definately buy another Montana!

  • Love the lemon????? - 2002 Pontiac Montana

Since we got this vehicle, we have had numerous problems: The A/C was repaired 3 times, the passenger seat heater and rails needed replacing, the coil packs have been replaced 3 times, lug nut cover fell off, our tires are allegedly cupping and making a loud noise and now our AWD and ABS are disengaged for some reason and we have an appointment on Monday to find out once again what is wrong! We like what this van has to offer but hate all the mechanical problems!

  • Terrible. - 2000 Pontiac Montana

We bought this van to replace the chevrolet astro. $20,000, it cost us and the first day we had it the check engine message came up. Ever since then its been downhill. The transmission has gone out. oxygen sensors have had to been replaced. Basically everything you can imagine, happened to this van. The cup holders stink, they dont keep anything in place. The interior is built poorly. The bright red dash display is very annoying, why couldnt have it been blue? Why do you have to manually recline the seats? This van stinks.

  • A Great Visit to Montana - 1999 Pontiac Montana
    By -

After steering clear of General Motors vans, in 1999 we purchased the newly designed Montana. We have been so pleased that we just traded it for the 2002 model. We drive other vans for rental or the ones owned by our children. The Montana has the best interior room and handling. We have had no problems in 44,000 miles. We believe it is a top quality vehicle.
