  • still love it - 1999 Pontiac Montana

I test drove many vans, but wanted one with the entertainment TV package & was thrilled when I found this Montana. It looks great & compared to the other vans out there this was the nicest, most luxurious, best features. I have had it in the shop several times, rear speakers that crackled, some engine leaks, power window motor, catalytic converter and a power door recall. Pontiac was great about fixing these things for free, even after manufactures warrenty was expired. I purchased this van with 35000 miles already on it, and now am nearly to 50000, and am very happy with it for the price. Nothing else in the price range compared with the Montana for style.

This is a nice family van. The DVD player is great for the kids, especially on longer rides. We have the cordless headsets, so we can listen to the radio while they watch the movie. The dual slding doors are a must.

I have owned a Montana for 4 years . it had 112000 klm on it. Now has 141000. All around great vehicle but it has had rear end troubles at a cost of $16000. thankfully under warranty. Now the rear end has gone again. Should it diengage the awd when cornering, Dont know. But they will spend another $ 11000 to fix it under warranty. It runs good just makes a howling noise when turning. I would buy one again.

  • More Good Than Bad - 2000 Pontiac Montana

I purchased this 2000 Pontiac Montana new. Features power sliding door, climate control, power seats, etc. Payed $32k new for it, not worth that much, maybe close to $20k. All GMs vans had problems, this is by far the best out of the three though. There are about 127k miles on it now, its still running ok, but needs new head gaskets soon, so will be trading in shortly. For the most part the quad seating and roomy interior was a great van for a family of four and the dog!

we were in a car accident and my two children were not hurt. The rear end that was hit at about 35 mph was damaged and was almost totalled but we all walked away from the crash with very minial injuries.

  • I feel sorry for those other moms - 1999 Pontiac Montana

For someone who never wanted a minivan, I sure cant live without mine! I researched them all. The Montana extended was the only one (at the time) to have 8 seats that can all be moved around. The engine and all the major parts have never had to be serviced. The brakes wear out fast and the cup holders broke right away. The rubber seals on the doors keep rotting out even though I keep my van in the garage! The kids seat belts have been replaced twice. Overall Im VERY happy with the van. Its dependable and the important parts have always run well. Its roomy, comfortable, and with the suspension package upgrade, it drives like a sedan, not a van.

  • Beware of sliding door falling off!! - 2000 Pontiac Montana
    By -

Ive had this van for 3 1/2 yrs, 36k. No major problems until the drivers side sliding door fell right off as I went to close it. It was night time and 20 degress and I had a door in my hand. The dealership states the problem was due to excessive rust on the rollers causing rollers and hinge to break . GM states it was our fault because we didnt maintain our doors by having them lubricated every 15k. I have never heard of doors falling off because of lack of lubrication and I dont think a 3 1/2 yr old van should have excessive rust. This was a regular slider (non- powered) If anyone else has encountered this problem, please post it.

  • Great Van - 2000 Pontiac Montana

I bought this van with over 200K miles on it. Ran extremely well when I bought it and lasted for almost 2 years w/o any problems. The 3.4 is the best anyone can ask for. I sold this at 260,000 miles. Still ran like a top. Fastest car Ive owned surprised everyone when I would step on it! Wow what a mini van!
