  • Nice value, good performace. - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I purchased this car used with 87,000 miles on it. I currently have 133,000. In that time I have replaced the drivers window motor and the AC, heater blower. Total cost of repairs for both items $600. Not too bad. Great acceleration and handling especially for a largish size car like this.Loaded with a lot of electronic goodies that I could live without but are nice to have. The heads up digital windshield display is really neat. Cant really complain about much. I find this car to be very comfortable when driving. Some people dont like the firm seats. Frankly, I do. To each his own.

  • Still great to drive! - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I have owned this car for 6 years and a month. I has been much more reliable and gets about the same gas mileage that my slower and smaller Grand Am owned before. At 65000 miles it is still running great. I intend on keeping this car for a few more years based on its behavior (knock on wood), so far so good. Still get confused as a new rental car with my friends.I havent noticed much improving on the 04 model to make me jump over to the dealership at this point.

I’m the original owner and I now have 7 years and 95k on my GP. I disagree with others’ statements that this car has a poor build quality. My problems have been few and far between: all electronics are fully functional, haven’t had to replace window motors, no problems with AC, leather seats in great condition, transmission shifts seamlessly, no squeaks or squeals or other undesirable noises, no badges or moldings have ever fallen off, 54k out of first set of tires, still have original brakes (unbelievable), no engine troubles or bad oxygen sensors, sound system better than the premium system in my Dad’s Lexus, my brother’s 2000 Accord has had far more problems. Acceleration as good as new

  • Grand Prix GT Coupe - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I purchased my Grand Prix GT Coupe a few months before I got my lisence. The first time I drove this car I knew I had to have it. Not only is it unbelieveably fun to drive, but extremely reliable. I am so happy that my parents chose Pontiac as my first car.

This car is fun to drive, but it has been a nightmare to maintain. We have kept up the maintnance, but it is just a break-down looking for a place to happen. We dont beat it. Security system died. Alternator left us stranded. Front headlamps fell out (X2) Rattles and squeaks (dealership could not fix). Valve cover gaskets (X3) Sunroof died at 6 years ($1,500+ to repair) Window actuator died Spider-web hood paint Shifter wore out at 6 years The car only has 85,000 on it and most of these items took place in the 55,000 range. The car is truly fun to drive, but it just has not been of the quality we expected, nor does it compare to other vehicles weve owned.

  • Love to drive it!! - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I purchased my SE 12/99 as a used model. I was looking for something with good handling, ride and interior room. I got it all. The car handles like it should cost a lot more. The engine is ok, could stand a few more horses but its good enough. Now, with more than 135K, its still running very well. Have only replaced the battery, water pump and window motor for the passenger side. (may have to do driver side soon if it keeps acting stupid) Was unaware of the lens problem until I took it for the recall work and the lens was missing. They washed the car so I assumed they broke the lens. They replaced it no charge.

  • Not to Bad - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

Head lamps stink, replaced both. Radio display goes in and out for about 3 years now. Drivers window froze, fixed myself. Heater fan has been rubbing and clicking for about 3 years but still works. Rear window leaks somewhere into back floorboards, Dealer can`t find it either. replaced frozen belt tentioner a couple months ago.

  • Ok outside, very, very bad inside. - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

Horrendous inside. Window regulators breaks every year! $500 to repair each. Interior side of the doors get loose. The quality of assembly and the material is very, very bad. Also, had to change air-condition once and starter twice.

  • GTP Lover! - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

I have owned my GTP for a while now. It is bright red with every option except sunroof. I love it! I would definitaly recommend this car to anybody. I have never had ONE problem with it. The only thing I wanted to replace before it got worse was the tire rod which could happen on any car. The performance is outstanding! Passing power is effortless and cornering is amazing! This car could honestly beat anything out there except for an LT1 or LS1 Camaro or Trans AM. Watch out FORD MUSTANG GT! All in all, if you can find a grand prix gtp, you should HIGHLY CONSIDER buying one! A++++++ PONTIAC!

  • Good vehicle with minor repairs - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

Overall this has been a very good car. Its very comfortable and fun to drive. At about 100,000 miles I had to replace the alternator and water pump. I have also put two driver power window switches in it already. Other than that Ive had no major problems and will buy another Pontiac when I get rid of this one.
