Overview & Reviews
The Grand Prix gets more muscle for '99 with low-restriction air-induction components giving the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 five more horsepower, to 200. This engine is standard on the GT (sedan and coupe) and optional on the SE sedan. A traction control indicator and on/off button are now standard on GTP models. Minor revisions are in order inside, with front-door courtesy lamps and a six-speaker sound system now standard, and an eight-speaker Bose audio unit and OnStar mobile communications system optional. Outside, a rear deck spoiler is standard on the GT model, and two colors have been added to the 1999 exterior paint chart.
- Strong powertrains, sporty styling, fun to drive.
- Overstyled interior, cheap-looking dashboard plastic.

Grand Prix GT 4 Door Sedan - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By dede402 - August 4 - 1:30 pmWe bought this car 7 months ago and ABSOLUTELY love it!!! It was a one owner car and VERY well taken care of! Even the body man at the dealership couldnt believe it was a 1999. It looks sooo much newer!! It rides like a dream and the gas milage is unbelievable! We plan on driving her down to Florida soon! The only problem we have had was a wheel bearing in the drivers side go and that has been it!! We LOVE this car soo much and would DEFINITELY buy another one!! We LOVE it that much!! There really is NOTHING bad we can say about this car! SHES BEEN GREAT!!!

Good Car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Frank - May 13 - 11:13 amWas the first in my town to purchase this brand new 99 Pont Grand Prix GT (white). Ive had several things go out on it, but was mostly while under warranty. The shifter linkage worked its way loose (5 times) had to be towed in. While getting a tune-up the mechanic noticed that the coils were burned so had to replace them. The computer went out and after returning the car to the mechanic 3 times he found that a frayed wire in the rear of the car was filling with water and running the length of the wire to the computer, shorting it out. I payed for the first computer but dealership paid for the second since they didnt locate the source of the problem. It has 160,000 original miles.

Comfortable car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By midliferacer - January 24 - 10:00 amOne of the best handling cars I have ever driven. Acceleration is great. Seat comfort is excellent. Only trouble I have had in 4 years is the computer control module for the transmission. It had to be replaced at 37000 miles. Since it was so close to the end of warranty, GM contributed a portion of the cost to replace this item. Exterior styling still attracts attention, even after 4 years.

Stupid cupholders ! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By xtreme_1 - March 5 - 10:00 amAs far as performance goes.....hands down over anything Ive ever owned...never going back to imports thanks to the Grand Prix GT....but, I enjoy an armrest and with 2 coffees in the cupholders, not the biggest issue I know, it is for me however, its the only issue I have with the interior, not the most comfortable position for my arm, but overall....BUY THIS CAR (I cant wait until I can buy a brand new one!)

Overall a great car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Stan S - August 17 - 10:00 amI like the car, the only complaint I have is the brake discs rusted pre-maturely, had to be replaced at 19000 miles, and not covered by warranty

Dependable, Powerful, Comfortable... - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By ravenking - August 14 - 9:16 pm...What more could you want? My car has given me nothing but joy since I bought it. I commute 30 minutes to and from school every day, and this car makes it much more comfortable and fun than any other I have driven. It is fast, smooth, and very useful. I opted for the four door because it is more practical, but it is actually the same size and has the same looks as the coupe, just more convenient.
