Fun to drive! - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By GPFan - May 21 - 10:00 amMy car has about 85,000 miles on it. The performance, comfort, and styling in general are great. However, even though Ive taken excellent care of my car, Ive had around 3,000 in general repairs over the past year. My headlight lenses went 1st - Apparently the glue used to hold them on the headlight assembly dry rots, and they can fall off. But, you cant buy just the lenses. The blower motor and resistor - for the interior vents needed replacement. Also, about a month ago, my brake calipers went bad in front. At present, its in the shop getting its transmission fixed, and the upgraded parts - which is by no means cheap. I dont want to scare anybody, the cars really been great.

Love it/Hate it! - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By James123 - April 3 - 2:00 amBought used two years ago. Has 90,000 miles and still runs quiet and quick. Too many window problems and Pontiac customer service problems. I recomend staying away from this car based on the window problem.

Must be very blessed - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By TOM HALL - January 30 - 1:46 pmAfter reading the reviews from other owners I must have gotten a good one!! After 139,000 miles have only replaced the brakes and normal maintenance. As for the antifreeze leak these cars came with the 100,000 fluid. Some people add the wrong type, thus causing the leak and in some cases the water pump. It is all about PROPER MAINTENANCE. AS for the Toyota and Honda reference I had a 1996 Toyota and the engine went south at 56,721 miles. With the same GOOD Maintenance.

Great vehicle, much recommended. - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By glenn1312 - January 10 - 5:43 pmMy Grand Prix is now approaching 120000 miles, and Ive enjoyed every minute Ive driven it. This car is great to drive: it handles well, is comfortable, and runs great. The only problems Ive had up to this point have been with the power windows (see below) and losing headlight covers, which as I understand, is a common problem with this vehicle. Other than that, I highly recommend looking into this car.

Good-Bad and the Buggy - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Jcteacher - August 17 - 10:00 amOkay car, HOWEVER, theres Too many window problems! Pontiac customer service problems. I recommend staying away from GM cars based on the window electric problems. ALL three automatic window motors-BROKE, fourth is going downhill! BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH GOING out and only 2 speeds left! Pontiac does not take responsibility for its defects. Dont drive long distances, seats are hard and it makes a sore butt. . L0L. . I will NEVER buy a Pontiac again. Shame on this company! I AM BUYING A HONDA!

It was a good investment - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By SedanMan - June 22 - 3:00 pmI just passed the 8 year mark of my Grand Prix GT sedan purchase and am a few hundred miles away from 110k. Its been a fun car to drive over the years. Ive had my share of issues, but nothing too major. The alternator failed around 90,000 miles. The power drivers window quit working around 100k. The A/C needed recharged earlier this summer ($180) The LED display on the radio quit working between 90-100k. The car still gets around 19-20mpg in day-to-day city driving but I often get over 30 mpg on road trips - and thats with a family of 5 and a full trunk. I just test drove a Sienna but really dont know if I want to give up the power/handling of the Grand Prix.

koo koo - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By rikoo - May 9 - 10:00 amvery enjoyable ride - responsive. happy with the purchase from day one. The only thing that has gone bad in the past three years (other than two fuses, two headlights and a dealership)was the driver-door power windows control, which costed my warranty $800 to repair.!!

My first car, - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By MB - May 8 - 1:06 pmBought mine for 800 bucks from a cousin who let it sit for a year. his couisn bought it brand new and took great care of it. had to put about a thousand dollarsof work into it but for that 1000 put a brand new radiator, trans line, rear struts, tie rods, stabalisers, front wheel bearings, new motor mount and main oil switch, tires and belt tensioner. love this car, runs like a champ, never had a problem with the engine, always starts. great fuel for havin a 3.8L, and fast for a v6. will definatley buy the same car once this one blows up in a few years if that happens. absolutley love this car.

Fun while it lasted - 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix
By chrismassey - March 8 - 4:43 pmI absolutely LOVED my GT. Having 64k miles, only needed regular maintenance - even in tough AZ heat. Would definitely recommend it. Unfortunately it got totalled last week - will definitely miss it...
