This Year's Model Updates:

The Grand Prix underwent a redesign for 2004, but those familiar with the big sedan will find its blend of performance and comfort hasn't changed much.

Pros:
  • Strong supercharged V6, nimble handling, attractive gauges, easy-to-use controls, big trunk, fold-flat front-passenger seat.
Cons:
  • Build and materials quality still needs work, tight backseat, noisy engine, not enough storage or cupholders, no auto climate control.

Great power, smoothness, quietness, fit/finish, gas mileage,,,, did I leave anything out? A ton of value for the money. One thing not noted is how well the safety is in the wet. The traction control is truly a marvel. I fly past people. Great job Pontiac!

21,000 miles - I have had no problems with my GP mechanically yet. I am however a new york resident, and I often get pounded by the snow here. One of the first things that I noticed was that when lifting the windshield wipers up, they are stopped by there arms hitting the hood. This only allows for about 6 inches to clear all the snow and ice off, and they dont stay up, so you have to hold them. Also, the salt requires frequent squirts of washer fluid, but even the slightest cold weather freezes the squirters. The windows freeze easily too. The heated seats will burn your butt though! The chrome handles get scratched very easily. I always wanted a GP, and now I have one, its nice.

I had the power steering pump replaced at 21000 miles. I had the outside rubber/plastic lining at the base of the windshield replaced at 30,000 miles. The fuel economy isnt the best but it has 260 HP and 280 ft/lbs. of tourque, so I expected it. I get around 23 miles per gallon average on mostly highway driving. Im almost 6 4" and just barely fit in the car (It has a moon roof which lowered the roof line). Regardless, its a fun ride with very good acceleration and decent handling. The fold down front seat is a nice addition. The trunk is large. Overall, Im happy with the car for the price.

This vehicle is great. For the price of the lease this vehicle is outperforming my expectations. Great ride and handeling. Good engine performance with decent fuel economy.

Great responsiveness upon acceleration. Monsoon stereo makes driving a pleasure. Pontiac stepped up and subsidized the conversion to aluminum caps. Drive 20K + miles per year - best car Ive driven.

  • Awesome - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

Handles great. I love the outside design. It has the kind of power and speed you love for touch and go situations. I could drive it all the time. I feel like I have been in a commercial where I make excuses to take a drive anywhere. It is an awsome car.

  • Best all-around car Ive had! All my friends are jealous of the Pontiac - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I bought this car in February of 2014 with 126xxx miles on it. Currently I have over 133xxx. This car is awesome. I love the interior cockpit design; it really makes the driver feel in charge. The heads up display in this car is by far my favorite feature. Its really hard to find those with other cars nowadays. The GM 3.8 is an amazing motor. Going down the highway I get 30 mpg easily, which is amazing given the size of the car. Whenever a friend of mine gets into my car, their immediate reaction is, "wow, this is a solid car". Then again, these are people who drive Volkswagens and Hondas... Theyre shocked on how safe they feel in an American car.

  • It aint the 99 - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I had a 99 and loved it every day I had it. On a whim, I traded it for this adult version with leather and sunroof. Almost immediately I was unhappy. The sunroof hesitated for the first 3 years then fixed itself. The front end has been repaired at least 6 times. It ate a set of tires in 8 month. Tie rods, bushing alignment issues. The interior stinks: My 6 foot husband cant get into it, period with out moving the steering wheel and seat. "leather is all cracking, wheel is peeling, plastic is impossible to clean. I miss my 99 in myriad ways. It was huge, got better mileage. I HATE leather, especially this leather. And the AM radio is affected by sunspots or something 2x a year. weird

  • best car Ihave owned - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I have 42,000 miles on it and have not brought it back to dealer. Handles very good and the 3800 engine is superb, very peppy.Gets 30 miles per gallon on highway. The fits are excellent. No squeaks or rattles. Seems to me GM has finally built a good reliable car. Will definitely buy another car. I tried a nissan, and camry, but this is quieter and handles better.
