Overview & Reviews
The Grand Prix gets more muscle for '99 with low-restriction air-induction components giving the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 five more horsepower, to 200. This engine is standard on the GT (sedan and coupe) and optional on the SE sedan. A traction control indicator and on/off button are now standard on GTP models. Minor revisions are in order inside, with front-door courtesy lamps and a six-speaker sound system now standard, and an eight-speaker Bose audio unit and OnStar mobile communications system optional. Outside, a rear deck spoiler is standard on the GT model, and two colors have been added to the 1999 exterior paint chart.
- Strong powertrains, sporty styling, fun to drive.
- Overstyled interior, cheap-looking dashboard plastic.

Great car for the price - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By JP - September 18 - 1:16 amHave had this car for over 7 years now, and have no major issues or problems with it. It is still fun to drive, and rides great for a 7 year old car. GM did a great job with this one!

I LOVE IT!!! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By BRANDY - September 13 - 2:00 amI love the way this car handles. The leg room is great for tall people. It is a good style for a family and sporty car. Only one problem with it..the coolant system.

Awesome Car! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Bruce Helton III - August 15 - 2:00 amI needed a car that had lots of room for a tall person like myself, and that had a lot of power, and this was it! I especially like the fact it can outrun a Mustang GT with about $500 worth of mods! Ah, the look on their faces when a "family car" beats them! I bought it with 96,000 miles on it, it has 102,300 miles on it now with no problems yet.

Cheap thrills - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By shmoke - February 17 - 10:00 amI just cant express my disdain for Christians review (Edmunds editor). He obviously has a terrible impression of this car and has obviously been presented with a bad example. Maybe Edmunds was provided with a "testers" example that had been flogged first by more "prestigious publications". I have not seen a Grand Prix that displays bad build quality, materials or design. The fit and finish are of great quality. "Harsh and un-refined"... The Grand Prix does indeed excite the senses. Everything from the sound of the engine, the firm yet supple ride and tactile feel of the controls - are all unique and appealing.

Best Used Car Been Very Reliable - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Ladylynnette - April 24 - 11:53 amthis car is the coupe and has very good suspension with the low track. Has luxury along with takes corners really well. I bought my car with 95,000 miles on it and it still runs like a new car, it now has 112,000 miles on it. I occasionally have something go wrong. I had the air mass flow sensor go out and then replaced and runs great again. It is more sporty luxury than complete sports car. I have really enjoyed it. It is much harder to find the 2 door couple which is much sportier looking.
