This Year's Model Updates:

The Grand Prix gets more muscle for '99 with low-restriction air-induction components giving the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 five more horsepower, to 200. This engine is standard on the GT (sedan and coupe) and optional on the SE sedan. A traction control indicator and on/off button are now standard on GTP models. Minor revisions are in order inside, with front-door courtesy lamps and a six-speaker sound system now standard, and an eight-speaker Bose audio unit and OnStar mobile communications system optional. Outside, a rear deck spoiler is standard on the GT model, and two colors have been added to the 1999 exterior paint chart.

Pros:
  • Strong powertrains, sporty styling, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Overstyled interior, cheap-looking dashboard plastic.

  • Amazing Car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

This car is one of the best I have ever owned. Good bang for buck. The best MPG I have got is an average of 33MPG highway at a speed of 66MPH. But I average 20 city and 29 highway. Great performence as a daily drive. The only down side is that is is hard to find performance part for this car.

Interior started slight rattling and buzzing after the first week. Great handling and power. Great leg room front and back.

My experience has been a good one. The build quality is an issue with the fit and finish. It out-performs everything in its class regardless of cost. So trading a little quality for performance is what you have. My maintence on this car so far has been new tires and oil changes. I think this car is very good for what you pay. I dont see anything in its price range then or today that Id rather own. If your in the market my suggestion is test drive it. I thought of trading it in on a Maxima, I drove the Maxima and didnt like it!!! Also looked at a BMW 325 it needs more power and space.

The 99 Grand Prix is a very exceptional car. It offers many options, and outperforms the competition in performance and style. I chose it because its much easier to find, maintain, and buy than the foreign competition. I love my Prix GT.

  • Overall decent car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

This car has been good so far with only a few major repair jobs. I love the power of the engine and the quick acceleration. Even with over 100k miles on it the car still pulls strong.

The Grand Am is my favorite car. Im on my 2nd one...the only thing that would keep me from buying a third would be if someone gave me a Firebird. =)

  • A little disappointed... - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

First of all I take very good care of my cars. I just wanted to say that first. I had the car a year and a half and had to have the transmission replaced. That took 4 trips and an act of congress to get that done. I actually had to go to a different dealer. The car just turned 3 and the CD play stopped working. To me there is no accuse for that. On the plus side, I love the way the car looks and handles. I hope Pontiac doesnt screw it up with the redesign in 03.

  • Stupid cupholders ! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
    By -

As far as performance goes.....hands down over anything Ive ever owned...never going back to imports thanks to the Grand Prix GT....but, I enjoy an armrest and with 2 coffees in the cupholders, not the biggest issue I know, it is for me however, its the only issue I have with the interior, not the most comfortable position for my arm, but overall....BUY THIS CAR (I cant wait until I can buy a brand new one!)

This car was ok, but had some issues and depreciated. Bought it in 02 for 7k and sold it in 05 for 1400 while in college. Issues were leaky weather stripping on the sun roof, would drip on me after rains. Gas gauge out (bad sending unit), a/c went out. Other than that major mechanical was fine and so was drivability.
