This Year's Model Updates:

The Grand Prix gets more muscle for '99 with low-restriction air-induction components giving the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 five more horsepower, to 200. This engine is standard on the GT (sedan and coupe) and optional on the SE sedan. A traction control indicator and on/off button are now standard on GTP models. Minor revisions are in order inside, with front-door courtesy lamps and a six-speaker sound system now standard, and an eight-speaker Bose audio unit and OnStar mobile communications system optional. Outside, a rear deck spoiler is standard on the GT model, and two colors have been added to the 1999 exterior paint chart.

Pros:
  • Strong powertrains, sporty styling, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Overstyled interior, cheap-looking dashboard plastic.

We were the original owners of this car. Previously owned a Dodge Neon that was rather unrelieable. What a difference with this Pontiac.. Very reliable. We had the oil seals replaced at 100k miles & a electronic sensor replaced at around 80K miles. Other then that there were no major repairs. Solid ride, 28 mpg on the highway. Great performance & quiet ride. Wed buy another one.

When I bought this car the previous owner took very good care of it. The only thing I had to do is put a MAF sensor on it. These cars are fast, especially if you add a few goodies. So it just goes to show if you maintain your vehicle, more often than not it will last. I love this car, in fact I think Im going to buy another one possibly a gtx if I can find one.

We bought this car 7 months ago and ABSOLUTELY love it!!! It was a one owner car and VERY well taken care of! Even the body man at the dealership couldnt believe it was a 1999. It looks sooo much newer!! It rides like a dream and the gas milage is unbelievable! We plan on driving her down to Florida soon! The only problem we have had was a wheel bearing in the drivers side go and that has been it!! We LOVE this car soo much and would DEFINITELY buy another one!! We LOVE it that much!! There really is NOTHING bad we can say about this car! SHES BEEN GREAT!!!

Was the first in my town to purchase this brand new 99 Pont Grand Prix GT (white). Ive had several things go out on it, but was mostly while under warranty. The shifter linkage worked its way loose (5 times) had to be towed in. While getting a tune-up the mechanic noticed that the coils were burned so had to replace them. The computer went out and after returning the car to the mechanic 3 times he found that a frayed wire in the rear of the car was filling with water and running the length of the wire to the computer, shorting it out. I payed for the first computer but dealership paid for the second since they didnt locate the source of the problem. It has 160,000 original miles.

I bought this car thinking that it would last as long as our 94 Grand Prix. My cars are well maintained and checked regularly. This one didnt even make it to 100,000 miles. No warning from any of the sensors, no telling that anything was wrong until I looked at the temp guage and saw 250 degrees. After immediately pulling over, it was too late. The engine was cooked. Now Im looking at a $3500 investment on a car that is valued $6500.

  • This is an awesome car for a sedan!! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

Pontiac did a great job in building a car that provides both the functionality of a regular sedan but with a big dose of power for those of us that drive the limit. This is a great car.

  • What a disappointment! - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. It has been to the Pontiac service department 16 times and counting. The defroster does not function properly, which ahs been acknowledged by the dealership. They say it is the same on all Grnad Prixs - it is "normal." The dealership is unable to repair problems without numerous visits. What a disappointment this car has been!

  • Comfortable car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

One of the best handling cars I have ever driven. Acceleration is great. Seat comfort is excellent. Only trouble I have had in 4 years is the computer control module for the transmission. It had to be replaced at 37000 miles. Since it was so close to the end of warranty, GM contributed a portion of the cost to replace this item. Exterior styling still attracts attention, even after 4 years.
