Overview & Reviews
The Grand Prix gets more muscle for '99 with low-restriction air-induction components giving the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 five more horsepower, to 200. This engine is standard on the GT (sedan and coupe) and optional on the SE sedan. A traction control indicator and on/off button are now standard on GTP models. Minor revisions are in order inside, with front-door courtesy lamps and a six-speaker sound system now standard, and an eight-speaker Bose audio unit and OnStar mobile communications system optional. Outside, a rear deck spoiler is standard on the GT model, and two colors have been added to the 1999 exterior paint chart.
- Strong powertrains, sporty styling, fun to drive.
- Overstyled interior, cheap-looking dashboard plastic.

Grand Prix GT Coupe - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By antihero70 - November 18 - 10:36 amThis car has been amazing since the date of purchase. Currently at 200,000 Km. Ive only owned rear wheel drive vehicles before so going into a front wheel drive was going to require an adjustment but this car feels like it is RWD with power on tap and it never lets me down. Only repair issue was the front end snapped ($2000 repair job from GM) but thats been it for 6 years of ownership. Not like the average GM vehicle, brakes actually last for a long time, no head gasket issues, transmission doesnt kick, interior plastic parts havent snapped off yet!! Another great thing is the amount of aftermarket parts for this car (projector headlights, body skirts, spoilers...)

THIS CAR ROCKS - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By Pontiac Fan - May 24 - 2:00 amI love this car. The styling still looks great after five years. Its got all the power Ive ever needed. I can place it anywhere in traffic that I need to thanks to that engine. The only issue I have is that since Ive passed the 90,000 mile mark, Im starting to have mechanical parts wear out every 4- 6 weeks. If the recent mechanical problems dont continue, Ill be thrilled to own this car for many more years. I wish they were still making this style Grand Prix!

Nice car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By riker93 - March 18 - 3:31 amI just bought this car Feb. 8, 2013, so I havent had it long enough to report any major problems. It runs great, and was well taken care of by previous owner. It looks almost new, no rust and the engine is so quiet. It handles very well, and takes off quickly. Gas mileage isnt bad, so Im not spending too much there. Its got all the options I could think of, so as long as I continue to take care of it, Im hoping to get a lot of miles out of it.

Good Car - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By spd98 - March 17 - 10:00 amI have loved this car although it was abused before I took ownership. With a little bit of work it turned out to be a great car. I am trading it in on a slightly newer GTP model.

1999 4dr Grand Prix GT - 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
By 911computerguy - April 9 - 12:10 amThis is the second Grand Prix which I have owned. The first being a 98 2dr GT. Performance is better than most V6s and rivals some V8s as well as being a very reliable car. Another thing I love about the car is low insurance rates. I would highly recommend this car to anyone, young or old, who is looking for a car that is both practical and exciting. PS: The specs for the 99 4dr GT on edmunds.com are wrong the torque is 225 just like any other model with the same engine.
