This Year's Model Updates:

The Pontiac G6 sees a host of changes for the 2006 model year. Starting things off are two new body styles: a two-door coupe and a hardtop convertible. The coupe will be available at the beginning of the model year, while the convertible hits dealer showrooms early in the 2006 calendar year. There are also new trim levels. A four-cylinder base sedan caters to those shoppers on a tighter budget, while a GTP trim increases the G6's performance threshold via the addition of a new 240-hp V6, stability control and an available six-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Huge rear seat, fuel-efficient V6 engines offer ample low-end pull, sporty suspension tuning, power hardtop in convertible model, panoramic sunroof in sedan.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, numb electric steering, panoramic sunroof eats up rear-seat headroom.

Its a beautiful machine. I use it mostly on the interstate for long distances and get a comfortable 32 mpg around 75 mph. I love it, I would suggest it to anyone!

I have a loaded auto GTP with panoramic roof. 1st lets talk styling. The GTP exterior and interior are sharp! The dual exhaust & 18" wheels give the car a very diff look than its little brothers (a regular G6). The 2-tone leather seats and aluminum look trim look great. Seats are contoured, comfortable & supportive, but not as thick as European cars. Overall, very attractive and comfortable. 3.9L V6 is powerful and the car has good torque. Power off the line is good, but passing power at highway speeds even better. All this is a very quiet cage. GM has really reduced outside/road noise. Good steering. (only on GTP). Great brakes. Suspension not quite up to par of foriegn cars.

I have had this car for 4 or 5 months now and I got this car at 50,000 miles and it has 59,445 now and I have had to put it in the shop 5 times now. they would rotate my roters a total of three times, and it didnt not fix my problem with my brakes and they need new roters now! also i have had to have new brake pads and a new steering wheel and new dome light and radio. they also have had to rotate my tires then i had to get new ones. this car has a problem with the roters and brakes. i wouldnt recommend buying a ponitac g6!

The G6 is a real treat, with lots of interior space. My brother who is 66" even commented about how he was able to sit in the back seat comfortably. With adjustable pedals, and power adjustable seats it is very easy to find a comfortable driving position. The car looks very nice on the outside, but the "flare out" on the rear of the car makes for an interesting blind spot on the sides. The red interior dashboard lighting is sweet to view at night, and the headlamps are excellent for night driving as they light up the highway very nicely. All in all a great buy, especially with the great incentives & financing going on now (August 06).

solid car that also has the sporty look for midsize car and has the performance to go with it.

  • Do not buy this car - 2006 Pontiac G6

I have owned this car for just over a year. Within 6 months I had to have both bumpers repainted because the four corners of the bumpers were rubbing against the fender wells and began to chip. The warranty covered the cost of the repairs, but would not loan me a car to drive for the three days it took to repair the car. I have also had the car in the shop six times since August 2006 due to an issue with the tires. I just this week finally received a new tire after waiting 2.5 months for a replacement after the tire was diagnosed as faulty. They said even though the car was vibrating, pulling to the left and nearly hydroplaned every time it rained, this was not a safety issue. Dont buy!

  • Best GM car I ever owned - 2006 Pontiac G6

Love this car, bought it new and have 70k miles. I live in the country with dirt and rocky roads. Has decent ground clearance for a care that is pretty sporty. For a performance car it gets between 24 and 26 MPG depending on how heavy my foot is. Torque steer is a little much when you put your foot into it(I know this is a problem with front wheel drive cars). Have had very few problems.
